Hi all

I did ask this question previously (perhaps in the wrong section - part of the 'introduce yourself' thread), just curious if anyone else knows when Hyundai intend to do a model update for the i30?

Hi Simon,

Please don't think you were being ignored... If Hyundai are planning an update they are keeping it pretty quiet. They introduced Auto on diesel earlier in the year and are discreetly introducing cruise apparently from June 08 build (by the sound of it) but that's about all for this year I.M.O.

My guess is they will introduce the Wagon (CW) to Aus for 2009 and perhaps tweak the styling and other things on the hatch then. Only small things like putting the indicators on the mirrors and such.

Did a pretty thorough google search and only came up with a few opinions (nothing concrete) Think these companies keep things like that quiet so as not to hurt current sales...

Cheers,

Hey Dazz,

Thanks for your response - I was more concerned about me posting the same thing twice and getting burned for it!

I checked out www.redbook.com.au to see if Hyundai followed any trends with other models in the past, however could not pick any set patterns.

Only a few months to go before it's the anniversary of the i30 - perhaps then we'll see an updated model.

No Probs..

As I said elsewhere will be pretty surprised if they don't bring out a 2.0 ltr 6 speed CRDi SR version of the diesel with any update.

Won't worry me as sounds like the 1.6 might be the sweet spot as far as economy and driveability are concerned (not taking anything away from i30manUK - very nice car...)

Cheers,

A 6 speed would be nice with the 1.6L CRDi !

I recall reading (and being somewhat jealous) of those who get the 2L CRDi engine - however as you have also mentioned, the 1.6 would still be my pick due to it's amazing economy.

Hi Simon,

I would for one be very surprized to see a model upgrade of any kind yet as the i30 has been out still less than 1 year. As we know, Hyundai Aus has bowed to pressure and included cruise control in slx models now but i wouldnt exspect to see any other changes for a while.
Like Dazz points out , the wagon is definatley destined for our shores though i predict it will happen sooner than later, maybe by the end of the year or eary next.
I have also heard some suggestions that we may see a 2.0L CRDi SR model become available before to long.
I would predict that the next actual model update will happen towards the end of 09 and that ESP and 6 Airbags will become standard. I will also predict that the Elantra will also recieve the same 1.6 CRDi engine at about the same time. Call me Nostradamas, We will see. :D

Cheers

The Wagon (AKA Estate) is already available in UK.

Hey all

I was curious about cruise control now being available as a factory option on the diesel range.

I just spoke to my local dealer (the fleet mgr there) who informed me there is still no current factory cruise available on any diesel model - he actually called Hyundai Australia to confirm this.   This is contrary to what others have mentioned here.

Also, he said that i30s only come with 1 key FOB - this also surprised me!

He did mention that the current release is the MY8.5 - which includes the 5 star rating, and also now has traction control as standard - which means the optional protectz pack has decreased in price given it now only includes the air bags + EBD.

Hi Simon

When I ordered my SLX manual diesel 5 weeks ago the dealer told me that it would be delivered with factory cc (I'd been nagging him about this for a while). I asked if this applied to the SX and he said no but didn't elaborate.

He did seem a bit cranky about it as he'd got in a few auto diesels that didn't have cc and he'd probably need to get them upgraded.

I'll just have to wait and see - can't comment on the key.

Hi Simon,

Cruise control now comes standard in all SLX models May built onwards. It is factory fitted but there is still no genuine dealer fitted cruise available from Hyundai.
I think the fleet manager was incorect about the traction control though. The tcs in conjuction with Esp is availalable only on SR models or as part of the protects pack on the SX and SLX.
EBD or electric breakforce distibution, is standard on all models of I30.

This is great news.  I have an SLX CRDi on order since early May and asked the dealer to fit an aftermarket cruise (apparently there is one that is Hyundai-approved) that is to cost $800.  Will be nice to not have to spend this!

Davet..

Thanks for joining (welcome to the club)

This site has only been going since late May and we were hoping for 100 members by end of June (you're number 93) so it's looking good.

Regards,

Dazz

Hi Dazz,
Maybe I should un-join and wait 'til I'm number 100??

Just spoke to the dealer today to see if he could confirm the CC story.  He also had the bad news that it looks like at least another 5 weeks for delivery...

Dave
