Howdy !

About half the time after I'm stopped and hit the engine stop button OFF ... I get a bong bong bong tune .... it's a pain in the butt if you like sitting in your car! Often I turn the engine on & off to get rid of it, but often even that doesn't work. I have to get out & lock it then reopen it just to sit in the car!

Anyone know what it is and how to disable it without taking it to a dealer ?

That is odd.. We haven't had a push button start i30 so can't help sorry. You might need to be patient because only a few of our active members have that feature.

When you stop, are you uncoupling the seat belt?

Grasping at straws here as I don't have the pushbutton-start system (I have an authentic and reliable key-start mechanism :whistler:)

The only things that I can think of are that either the lights are still on, or that the car (if it is an automatic) is still in gear.  Is there anything in your owner's manual.

Though I am not sure from the description - I wouldn't classify the sound I know as Bong Bong Bong - the O/P might be hearing what I observed sometimes in my mothers i30 Elite (which she got just over a year ago).

I noticed that sometimes the 'goodbye' tune/sounds would start repeating over and over and over - not always but sometimes - almost sounding like a stuck record.   I found that either restarting the car or locking/unlocking would usually solve it.

Seems it isn't it might not be all that rare - maybe Hyundai will need to do an update....

Didn't we have similar issues when the GD model 1st came out. It was re-settable at the dealership, I think.
