Hello to everybody!
I'm from Macedonia, today I get my i30. It's shiny red. It was on promotional price here in Macedonia. Only 11.990 euro's for 1.4 Gasoline! It has Manual A/C, ABS, ESP, 6 air bags..
I have readed almost 70 % of messages in this forum in the past 10 days.. Very nice discussions..
I have downloaded Manual and readed already 5 times!  :)
I have some questions for olders owners of i30..

Today I fill it with Gasoline 98 and my computer says that I have 550 km to empty! Is that ok? I think someone of you posted over 600 and someone over 700 km with one tank!
And my second question is how many km do I have to go with my new i30 until I can drive like someone here in the videos 9.0 sec to 100?  :) Can I push my car from start like that or I need first to drive easy? How many km can u tell me?

Tnx if anybody answers.  8)

Congratulations.

I own a diesel so will let someone better qualified to answer your fuel questions.
As with anything new, I'd let it settle in a bit before giving it some stick..  even maybe wait for the first oil change.

I'm 53 next week (so hopefully that's old enough)

The distance to empty usually adjusts upwards once you get closer to empty...

And I would like to see several 1000 kms on the clock before you give her too much stick although you are best to just drive normally when running "her" in.. I think they run better going forward if they are not babied too much..

Welcome and congratulations :D :D

The UK handbook states that you should not rev over 4000rpm for the first 1000miles and you should also not stay at one speed for extended periods of time during those 1000miles.

Welcome Drugar, well like Bumkin say's don't rev motor too high at the start and don't rev it high till motor warms up.
but i think the factory would fit pistons in at a safe tolerance. so  after driving it making sure you don't rev it too high till it is warmed up, and don't keep it at same rev, keep making it excellerate without reving too high, as this puts pressure on the piston rings & forces the out to wear a seal , ring to cylinder bore. but after driving for a few day's. just always make sure motor is warmed up then just drive it like you want. but make sure you do not over heat motor and every day before driving or even starting it check water leavel and oil leavel and you will be ok. have fun. you get a 5 year warranty there?
also most important with a new motor, DO NOT LUG IT! this means do not drive it in higher gear at lower revs as this will do more damage to the motor than reving it to high revs will.
enjoy your new car.
 :)

Welcome to Macedonia    We're almost "neighbors" ?   Oh and yes..you have a nice nick

First thing..Congratulations on your car, you've made a great choice!

Second..wait till it has at least 1,000 or even better 2,000 kms before driving it "hard" and fast and before testing accelerations and top speeds   You must also know that even after 2,000 kms the car won't go as it's supposed to go. They say that it "runs in" after 20,000 kms or so.

Third..your car is still new so don't worry about fuel consumption..it will go down.. And as i30Dave said it starts at 500 km, but you end up driving much more.. When I filled my i30 last week, it showed me I can do only 760 kms, but I drove 900 kms (mine's diesel).. So everything is alright.. When you fill up your tank (full) you might also reset the trip meter so you can see how much km's you've done..

Fourth.. Post some pics of your car   It probably looks great  :)

Yes I get a 5 year warranty. You says do not LUG it? I guess you mean when I drive on hills it's better to drive with 3 or 4 gear in some 4.000 rpm, then to drive in 5 gear with 2.000 rpm. I guess u mean this.

I didn't said in my first post, but this choise I made was "love on first view"!! In my city Hyundai and Seat are in the same store.. And I first get there to see the new seat Ibiza. They said new Ibiza 1.9 TDI will cost me 16.000 euro! That was too much for so small car for me! And company menager said to me just look inside this car (Hyundai i30). I get inside and was impressed. Too many good thing, too many space and only 11.990 euro! Then I started to read forums like this, web pages about car.. I was impressed what they say about her quality! But they also said that this car accelerates to slow.. Some of the peoples.. And I arranged test drive!
The test driver had only 28 yrs! And was a bit crazy one.. Test car had only 2.500 kms! I said to him that I want to see only if this car goes fast.. I was interested only in that.. Beacuase i have doubt only over that.. And then party started.. He went with first gear up to 5.000 rpm, with second also up to 5.000 rpm.. On hill he was driving with 4 gear and doing 120 km/h! I was impressed. And I bought this car.. Thats my story.. :) Hope you like it..
The red colour with black wondows in night looks so beautifull..
Im 25 yrs old.. We have another car home.. It is Opel Astra from 1994.. My father bought it.. It has 1.4 Gasoline with 82 h/p. It is only 910 kg's!!! That is 9 h/p on every 100 kg's! It's very fast one.. My father drive that car very easy and gentle until I made 18 yrs and took it.. It was i think 80.000 km when I started to drive it.. Compared to h/p on kg's on new Hyundai i30 that comes like to drive with 117 h/p on 1.300 kg's.. as Hyundai has... I thought i would never loved another car.. But now i love them too.. :)  Enough from me.. I may become boring with stories.. :)

drugar, great summary, did they let you drive the car your self?
that little 1.4 sounds more exciting than the 2.0 gasoline we get here is it a short stroke big bore?
with small gasoline car performance i'm impressed with Honda's as i see them at the race track here in Sydney and the times and speeds they do with no turbo is impressive.
i love my little i30 turbo diesel too! it is fun to drive in traffic.
you are right what i ment about going up hill's di not be frightened to rev the motor or shift to a lower gear. if a motor is built to very close tolorances you have to be carefull but if they are at safe tolorances does not really matter as with the modern equipment they use it does not take long for a motor to seal, but they do feel better with more miles as with carbon on piston and in chamber it helps , not too much carbon just a coating also gear box and diff and other parts need to wear in. but as you saw they drive test cars wide open throtle from day one.
enjoy your new toy.

Welcome, mate! Also, I'm sure you can be a member of this club while waiting for your i30!

And maybe also if you don't own one, but it won't make sense and it wouldn't be as fun!

In the Bible, the Book of Revelation (13:17-18) cryptically asserts 666 to be "the number of a man," associated with the beast, an antagonistic creature that appears briefly about two-thirds into the apocalyptic vision. The calculation of the number was a challenge that has inspired many would-be mystics and prophets ever since.
In modern popular culture, 666 has become one of the most widely recognized symbols the Devil.

P.S. One fresh pic from my car!! :)
