Hi all, well last year a mate asked if i wanted to skydive as part of his pre wedding buck party, so i said ok. But as luck would have it on the day there sas high wind so sky dive center cancelled till a latter date.
Yesterday a group of us went down the gong (woolongong) Beach & Beyond skydive center at Stuart Park.
After registering we had instructions then got suited up then the tandem harness, then got taken by bus to a airport about 30k south (first plane i've been in with no seats or seat belts) was about 20 of us in the plane 10 with 10 tandems we got strapped too. Well we all got aboad the tandem you jump with behind you hooks me up tightens up the straps puts eye protection on and we had a life vest straped to us bit like a bum bag.
That little twin engin plane had lot of go in it!! Took off quick and smooth then climbed, we were a very long way up!!
I asked how high we were & w as told 14,000ft well a big roll up door went up & the first pair went out the door then then pair in front of me went out  the next thing i know i'm out with tandem strapped to me😶
So i just did as i had been instructed then a tap on sholder so i put arms out legs out head back and were flying!!
Bit of wind buffeting, then the shute goes up the harness i'm wearing gets tight for a short time, then my tandem lets me know just relax.
Well i'm up there floating over the ocean an i thoubht how amazing this is!!!!
We went around & around then came down fast and smoothly onto a grassy park had my legs as high as could and my feet skimed just above the ground before we landed. Was great !!
Any others here do it?

Good one.   :goodjob2:
I've never done it but Sue has. She did a tandem jump in York WA a few years ago, said it was amazing.

Dave if you want to do it & get the chance go for it, i think it's normal reaction to be a bit scared as you go out the door but once you have done it second time would be even better. Seems to be a weight limit they said 100kg & under fine then over 100kg you pay more & think a total weight limit but unsure. Well i enjoyed it!!

It's not the fear factor, it's the damaged back & hip factor. Not sure it would be wise, although being tandem I guess the other guy takes the brunt of the landing, although some shock may be transferred.
I am in a lot of pain even standing, so that is what has stopped me.
Weight-wise, I'd need to lose three kilos.   :)

Did the same with my wife two years ago...... I ask if she could tandem with me (I'm a qualified jumper) but they refuse due to insurance rules and I had to pay full price as with a tandem even though I singled drop due to insurance rules again and signing a waiver. She loved every minute of the flight and would do it again in a heart beat........ :victory:......... So glad you tried it , John.....many people say we are mad stepping out of a perfectly good plane.....so it is something else you can cross off your bucket list.... :goodjob2:

I don't mind how high I go as long as my feet touch the ground. :snigger:

Sounds like a good experience Lakes :goodjob2:

Remember my old signature quote..."If at first you don't succeed then skydiving is not for you" :D

I was in a solo skydiving course 20 years ago and ended up doing a total of five jumps with static line. I was more or less a nervous wreck about the jump itself, but then gliding around with an opened parachute was amazing! For various reasons I then decided that motorcycling is thrilling enough for me and didn't continue skydiving, but didn't regret trying it out either.

To be precise, jumping from a small Cessna 172 wasn't a simple jump out, at least not for beginners. I had to slowly climb out of the door and up to the wing support strut, fighting against the extreme wind blowing from the propeller, and then hang from there for a second before releasing the grip.
