I don't know if over the water can get the following apps for iPad and android mobile phone. For your iPad download Vehicle Smart and on mobiles look for MOT checker.  These apps give you all vehicle history on mot's. Mileage all failures on MOT and notices. Also the miles covered on its first MOT and ones after. Also if vehicle is taxed. Very good piece of kit. Also a link for vehicle insurance but for this you need to declare that the vehicle is yours or you use it or checking after accident etc.

Thanks that's good info. Sounds like UK specific,  because in Tasmania (for example ) we don't have annual car inspection system. Only has to go over the "pits" if registration is allowed to expire.

New cars do not need a rego check for the first 3 (5?) years in NSW.
After that a yearly check  by authorized mech.
We can pay for a check to see if it has been a repairable write off  though or has money owing on it

States like SA and Vic don't have annual checks, just when selling interstate, heavy modifying, etc.

We have similar apps and internet sites where we can check MOT's and milage at every MOT, very handy when looking at a used car. Can also look up all technical data and see if previous owner is owing money where the car is held as security for the loan.
