Hyundai

Following a big year for the South Korean brand in 2017 with the introduction of its important new i30 hatch, 2018 will bring something different for the company.

It will launch its first true performance car, the i30 N hot hatch, in the first half of the year. Packing a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and a sharply tuned chassis it will pitch Hyundai against the likes of the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Ford Focus ST.

The middle of the year will see the arrival of another new frontier for the brand - electrification. The Ioniq range will hit showrooms around June with Hyundai offering all three variants - full electric, plug-in hybrid and regular hybrid.

Around the same time will come what will be the brand’s most important model of 2018, from a sales perspective, the new generation Santa Fe. Expect a bold new look similar to the pint-sized Kona launched in 2017 to top the new underpinnings.

The second half of the year will see the launch of the new Veloster, which is expected to be based on the new generation i30 underpinnings. It’s likely to be revealed at the 2018 Detroit motor show in January.

My Ioniq Hybrid was £24,500 OTR, though I haggled it down a little.

@beerman They are talking around 35K for the Hybrid (which will undercut the Prius by a fair bit. Mind you, you will be able to get a pretty good 2018 Hybrid Camry for those $ and they are going to be rated in the low 4's

Will be interesting to see the real world price.

You can currently get a hybrid Corolla for 27k, the rrp for a Camry hybrid is $34k.
