Another topic for discussion...

Having lived with both the Hatch and the CW here are my observations...

I personally feel the back half of the CW is a more balanced and pleasing design.. (I thought this even when we had a hatch) I think a spoiler on the hatch does help the rear styling quite a bit.  :goodjob:

I know Shambles and some other hatch owners would probably disagree with this.

There is only about 100 litres of extra boot space in the Wagon when the seats are up but it is a better shape for say carrying a small to medium dog..There is also about 50mm extra leg room (which is nice but not really a deal breaker...

The back seats in the Hatch can be folded flat (by lifting forward the seat base) in the hatch but not in the CW (which is a bit strange) but again not a deal breaker as they fold almost flat and create a good useable area .. On the plus side it is quick and easy to fold the CW seats and then put them back up after  :winker:

As mention in another thread you get more than just the bit of extra room for the extra A$2000 that the CW costs .. Extras included in the CW for that price premium include but are not limited to better trim, the Indicators included in the side mirrors which also have a one touch electric folding system and an Arm Rest in the rear of the base model..

I reckon a CW CRDi Manual SLX if such a thing was available would be a brilliant vehicle (pity they are so dear)

it was the leg room that did it for me.

With the babys seat in the capsule mode, there isn't much less room than my wifes Falcon.

and it just felt bigger....

Leg room sold it for me as being six foot plus the seat is almost all the way back, the centre arm rest is a plus for the boys, and when I try to lug SWMBO beauty cases to France I am certain the extra load height in the boot will be a winner.  If not there's always a roof box option - eventually.

The folding door mirrors are handy.  Mines a 2008 premium model so they only thing it really lacks is cruise control.

I too was sold by the size of the cw, mine was back seat room, as I have 3 grand children all still in car seats, plus I have plenty of room in the rear for prams etc

Hi.

Dazz and 2i30s can opine about the following:

A longer wheelbase (5cm more on the CW), gives a greater comfort, especially on long trips.

My Opel Corsa, it is very uncomfortable. The whole family had complained in the first few trips.

Regards,

carib

Oh and the wagon door opens to a flat floor. Took my 3yo out one day and we had lunch backed up to the beach sitting in the boot.......choice.

Yes I did drive the hatch, I find the cw much easier both to drive, and more comfortable as a passenger.

We were just talking and Trish thinks the better gearchange in the CW might be part of the easier to drive thing.. although It does seem a bit nicer to steer which I put down to less weight in the front with the petrol motor.

Also the CW has higher profile 15" tyres than the SLX Crdi had (16" 55 series tyres)

I haven't noticed a huge difference between the two but more noticeable for Trish who is very perceptive.

Pity the SLX CW CRDi only comes in Auto Dazzler. I would have loved to have bought an SLX Manual CW CRDi.

Drove a mates VW Golf when I was looking at buying. He has the DSG semi auto box which was fabulous, so intuitive in it's downshifting compared to i30 auto and most other autos I have sampled. Amazingly more economical than manual Golf.

Yeah, strange decision by Hyundai! To go the next step up from the wife's Manual SX to the Auto only CRDi is about A$4500
