Want to buy a second car with a tight budget. How is the quality of i20 and i10. Are they comparable to i30?

When I had a service last week I was driven back to work [by the dealership's chauffeur] in an i20. The build quality and overall impression was first class, and we also discussed the i10. The driver's impressions weren't too clever regarding the i10... he said the quality reflected in the price - very 1980's Nissan/Datsun with creaks and leaks. The i20, however, was highly regarded at the dealership and reflected well in their customer feedback.

So, based on hearsay, I'd say forget the i10, but do take a test drive in an i20. I was impressed by the space and build quality

Yeah, what Shambles said.

I've driven i20 and i10 (did at lest 100 km's with each one of them) - I usually get i10 or i20 for replacement cars, when my i30 is serviced.

i10 is small and I just don't feel that good in it. It's "okay" for city driving, but i really wouldn't own it.

i20 is much better than i10. The materials are quite descend (though not as good as in i30), it drives nice (I've driven 1.2 and 1.4 and would recommend 1.4 but the 1.2 isn't that horrible) and based on NCAP testing, it's really safe (the safest in it's class - got the most points). It's practical, just the right size, looks good (to me)..

There's just one thing.. Don't know what are the prices of i30 or i20 in your country, but in Slovenia, the difference between the prices are about 500 € and that's why people usually decide on buying i30 with little less equipment rather than fully (more) equipped i20.

I would definitely recommend i20 as a second car

I've driven the i10 and for an "around town" car it is OK, nippy and easy to park

I would expect for longer distances and time in the driving seat it would be like driving a push bike

Why not drive both and make your mind up from there. Personaly, I prefer the i10 over the i20, if you go for i10 make sure it's the 1.2 engine. Are you looking to buy new or used?

My mate has an i20 and having looked closely at it, I reckon that would be the one to go for...................

I am considering a used one, if there is a good deal. The second car won't be used too much. I also think i10 is too small and perhaps not so nice to drive. I am just wondering if there are a lot of errors in the car and need frequent reparation.

The price difference between i20 and i30 is around 3,000 euro and the one between i10 and i20 is another 3,000. Yes, in denmark, we pay three cars' price for one car.

Do you have the Getz over there (and if so how does that compare in price with the other two?) Over here it is fairly highly regarded..We had a 2006 model from new and I couldn't say enough good things about it!

No more Getz. I guess it is replaced by i20?

The fairly reliable word over here is they are going to keep selling the Getz over here for a while even once the i10 and i20 are released as it is still selling well (I'm guessing it will be priced somewhere between the other two)

My mate got the i20 comfort and is loaded with goodies and drives quite well with nice engine. The lack of leather steering wheel puts me off and the dash and door panel looks and feels cheap. But for that money, can't complaint. Now it also has esp.

I'm guessing from past history it will all happen in the 2nd half of this year .. because of our small market and ADR compliance there seems to be about a 12 month lag between Europe and us with new Korean Models.. As previously mentioned myself and DB08 are both waiting patiently for the new flasher Sonata CRDi
