Having read some forums about i30 hatch latch mine is on the SUV Tuscon 2016 model.. I have owned it for 2 years and lately after 6 hrs driving the hatch lock will not trigger to open, the lights flash from using the key fob, rubber switch under the back exterior panel and the on dash switch. Or by fully locked car and standing at the rear for 3+ seconds light flash but the solenoid does not release the latch. This has happened now 3 times in 2 weeks. Nothing is jammed in the latch or anywhere around the whole door, hatch gate is fully shut no suit cases are touching the inside panel and yet it has worked for 2 years and I have done 30,000km. Two Hyundai dealers say they have never heard of the problem. I have had to crawl in over the back seats and open the small panel at inside floor level and manually open the latch. Then it all works for a few days. It appears the solenoid is faulty or the latch is dry and will not release or it over centres when closing. Until the latch releases the electric lift arms do not power up. All the fuses have been checked by the dealer. No other electric systems are non operational. Has anyone had this problem? This Tuscon was made in Korea in February 2016. I live in Victoria Australia

We have had a few in our workshop with the same issue, usually it is a new PTG (Power Tailgate Module), located on the left side of the boot under the plastics. Or possibly just a reprogram using the Hyundai computer, you need to find a reputable dealer who knows what they are doing, it is usually an easy fix. It will be fixed under warranty so know one should charge for this.

As Lachie says. Dealer is dreaming. It is relatively common and a definite warranty fix. I have a friend who had two fixes of the tailgate actuator in their Veloster. Members regularly report door lock actuators sticking as well.

Thank you kindly for your response on the issue. I now know it has been a problem in Australia it might be rare but it has happened to you and maybe others. Thanks.

Have the dealers seen it at fault? WIth random intermittent faults like these it can be a battle . Next time it happens if it's possible contact the dealer and take the vehicle directly to them whilst faulted.

I had a Mitsubishi which had a couple of sporactic faults with door windows and cruise control which would sporatically fail and self clear.

Unless they have the fault present you virtually got no chance of a wty repair even if you video it.

If the fault is controlled by a module which records an error some codes clear after a power cycle which was what I had to contend with for my cruise issue, next time it failed I drove straight to a dealer and left the car running whilst they scanned and that then gave them a code to work from.

cars tend to be somewhat complex with Body control modules integrated into a lot of systems.

Mate, He will still get the same response: "... never heard of the problem." Its easier than dealing with a couple of fairly obvious trouble spots.
