These are the first photos of my new car - which had just been offloaded from the transporter which brought it from Tilbury docks to my dealership.  It was raining heavily when I took the photos.

The car was built on 23rd March 2012 and is a 2012 i30 Style 1.6 CRDi 128PS 6 spd manual.

When do you pick it up?

Never - it's too heavy

.............................Not sure when I collect it - Easter might get in the way. Could be this Saturday, may be next Tuesday or Wednesday.  I have arranged for the dealer to change the Hankook Ventus Prime 2 tyres to Continental Premium Contact 2 for optimum cabin noise reduction which has complicated things.

Congrats on the new purchase, A  beautiful amount of kit on these, can also get them with a sunroof as well and leather now.

Silver looks smart in them. Interesting idea getting the tyres changed over. :)

I have arranged for the dealer to change the Hankook Ventus Prime 2 tyres to Continental Premium Contact 2 for optimum cabin noise reduction which has complicated things.

FOC or did they make a differentail charge or even a refund?

It cost me extra - I paid a discounted price of £82 for the new tyres and they gave me £25 credit for the Hankooks.  The change thus cost me £228 in total.

Before arranging this with the dealership I did some research :-

1) I found the cheapest internet source for the Continentals at £85 and guesstimated how much I could sell the "used" Hankooks for at £35. I have prior experience because I changed the tyres on my previous car after a few months and sold the hardly used Hankooks - so I know getting a good price for used tyres - even if they have done minimal mileage - is a right pain. This route would have cost me a total of £200 - assuming I could sell the old tyres quickly for £35 each.

2) I also checked with several local tyre depots to see what deal they would offer me to change the tyres. The best offer I got was £257

So I paid £28 more than a DIY job - it was well worth avoiding the hassle.

I would agree with you there.

When you pick the car up, assuming you have had your weatabix that day    , the car is ready for you to rock and roll down the highway......

Also, once you have the car you tend to "do it tomorrow" and that then gets to week or even months or even years.......

Looks terrific Alan, Don't forget to brim, set trip & calibrate your odometer so we can have fuel consumption from new. It will be interesting to see how the motor loosens up over time.  :goodjob2:

The small circular thingy alongside the fog lamp is indeed a front parking sensor

You should have them put on the sides as well so that you don't hit the kerb when you're sliding in sideways.

I see my reply got lost :) I know, I know..I read there were some issues with the forum

Once more..the car looks great and the review you've written, is great. Please, keep us posted. Wish u a lot of comfortable, enjoyable and quiet moments in your new i30  ;)

Oh and yes, I almost forgot, I have a question for you. Is seating position a bit lower in the new i30? I drove the new i30 the other day and it seemed a bit lower?

The overall height of the car is 10 mm lower than the previous model - so I guess the seat may also be lower. I must admit I have not noticed any difference in comfort. However - I am yet to do a 200 mile non-stop trip.
