Us and a friend, Lynda, stayed at the old lighthouse keepers cottages for a couple of nights last week. Road in is a few km of tar then 25 km dirt.
Wildlife galore, whales, seals, dolphins, wombats, bandicoots, monitor lizards, snakes and all sorts of birds.
Lighthouse walls are 4 1/2 ft thick, hand packed walls with NO steel. Steps are cast iron set into the walls and bolted together . Hand railing around the top is bronze, ( no rust) assembled and welded in situ. Weather vane access is via ladder over the top of the roof. Actual light assembly rotates on a Mercury Bath system, 190 kg of it.
You can also start at aplace called Boyd Tower, and walk 30 km to there
