A few days ago i got a warning for low battery level on my Smart Key.
After replacing the battery of the smart key the buttons won’t work anymore. If i get nearby with the smart key the car still unlocks and can be started. I’ve noticed also that the light on top of the smart key lights up when pressing the buttons. Is there a special handling i need to do to reprogram the buttons?

Hi there hopefully someone on here has had that happen before. Can't recall it being mentioned. Is your local Hyundai dealer shut due to lockdown?  If you are lucky enough to have a friendly and helpful dealer, they may reprogram it for free. You are free to quote me...

Sometimes after a key battery change the car and the key have to learn to love each other again. I just left the key in the ignition for a couple of minutes without starting and all was well. Everything worked again.

Actually the funniest thing happened to me one day. I was tasked with doing a new battery on a Toyota by the AA. When I arrived it turned out to be a Hybrid so I said that I don't have a battery that big. I listened to what she said about not being able to get into the car either. A penny dropped and I realised that the battery in the fob was dead and not the car. Lucky.

So I showed her how to access the emergency key to unlock the door. I then put the fob into it's resting place in the dash and the vehicle started. I advised her to drive directly to the nearby Toyota dealer for a fob battery and sent her away a very happy AA member. I charged out the job as a jumpstart to the AA.
