Cruise control suddenly stopped working today, then the brake lights wouldn't turn off once I got home. Discovered the brake switch had jammed. Don't know if this has fixed CC - what do I do if not?

I have a recurring issue of cruise control not working on my manual 2012 FD diesel i30cw.
It happens when I start the car and start driving without having pressed the foot brake.
A small tap on the foot brake starts it working for me.
I talked to the dealer about it years ago but they are incompetent at fixing anything so they didn't/couldn't/wouldn't fix it.

My understanding Hman is that is how it is supposed to work. You need to touch the brakes after starting before engaging cruise control.
