Woo hoo could be time for dazzler to trade in the beige cardigan and Camry (package deal maybe)

Cheers

Darryl

Sorry Dazzler - I know it's hybrid and a red cardigan.

Makes me wonder why they need to pick on Toyota?
Most of Toyota Hybrid Camery's are sold to Fleet, not private. think i read that only 113 have sold to private buyer's.
Dazz is happy & keeping his baby for a few years. will be the longest he has kept a car in his life by sound of it
Also the i45 don't seem to be big sellers like the i30.

Well I think [Toyotas are rubbish] that page is about as unbiased [I hate the Prius] an article as I've ever [ours is better] come across.

I must admit considering how nice the Sonata Hybrid looks..that I am glad it is not coming to Australia in the near future...

In defence of the Camry Hybrid I am equally as happy with the Hybrid (for different reasons) that I was with Luna (my Manual SLX Crdi for those who didn't know).. and that says a lot because I loved Luna heaps

From what I learnt while driving my CRDi (plus bits and pieces I picked up from my wonderful fellow club members) I have managed to get this tankful down to an average of 6.0 (see photo) after 440 odd kms of fairly mixed driving..

I didn't fill her to the brim (just to 2nd click) and still have more than half a tank left..(and the gauge seems more consistent than the i30 one...

At our highway limit I seem to be able to keep the average at 6.2 LPH or below and sometimes around town can drag it down just that bit more with the stop and start technology and keeping her running on electric motor only..

No one has told me what happens to the battery's they use once they need to be desposed of? that could be an enviromental problem down the road.

Hey Dazz i was just thinking about your i30's name  (Lunar) you must have been taking her on some moonlight cruise's
Cheers

After reading that comment SC I had another look at the Sonata Hybrid in that picture (which I have seen several times before).. I've decided I like the i45 styling better than the hybrid I think..

I like this quote:

Quote
"Toyota has [also] invested so much in it [the Prius technology] that they can't get away for a while from nickel-metal hydride [batteries]," says Dr Woong-chul Yang, president of the Hyundai Kia Motors research and development division. "They are less efficient, more heavy [than the batteries used in our hybrid].

"We are the first to go with lithium-polymer in a hybrid, which are slightly different to lithium-ion batteries but are safer without losing the performance

Has any body at Hyundai read about the dangers of lithium-polymer batteries. Hope there's a very strong fire resistant container for the batteries. Could be the first car on the planet to do fireworks when the batts explode

Just one fault in the battery cuircuit could spell total destruction of them and the car.

I have some little 3 cell lipo batteries and I always charge them in the garage, inside a tin. Just going to need a big tin.

I do use a balancing charger, but I'd still prefer not to be sat next to them.

By all accounts the Batteries in the Camry Hybrid / Prius might be a bit heavy but they are proving very reliable and long lived... :D

Hey, these Hybrids, do they have to be ugly for some reason?
From Prius and Insight to Camry and now Sonata, each in its class, they all seem to be misprints of a cross-eyed designer.

Well, maybe Camry is less ugly than the others.

Maybe.. When I catch up with her I'll see what she says (she doesn't like people badmouthing my car )

I like the effort you went to with that poster  (It's all true  :P)

I didn't like the front bumper lines until i found out how low it made the drag coefficient

and it's growing on me .. The new Holden (GM) commodore have done similar with the narrow driving lights as well..

I reckon this commodore is a new model? 'cause it looks like a bumper upgrade to the looks of a 90's Opel Astra (GM).

2007 Hybrid offers a 0.27cd, same as the 1948 Tucker Torpedo
Both are worse comparing to the 0.21cd of a... 1935 T77A Tatra

I mean that, designers nowadays have almost infinite choices to achieve a good cd. Though they have to pick the good one. Just as they did with Camry :P

Said that and if anyIan is interested here are some things that can be done to improve a Maxima's aerodynamics (1st & 2nd pic): http://www.recumbents.com/car_aerodynamics
