Ah mate thats no good.
I had a similar hold up. Was meant to be ready first week of October but didn't come to late October.

If its any consolation, the yard should be able to do their side of things faster.
I remember when I bought the i30, that the sales manager said it would take 2 weeks for them to get it ready once it had arrived. Seeing as I had been waiting for so long, they pushed it along and everything was done it 2/3 days as opposed to 2 weeks.

So lets hope they do the same for you!

Well, I've also spoken to my dealer, and he's put back the delivery date into the state until 30/11/08.  This was from 19/11/08.

Does anyone know how these ships work?  I'm guessing they wind their way down the east coast of Aus, so I was assuming it'd be camerooney taking delivery in NSW first at the start of Nov, then teamgeorge in VIC mid-Nov, then me in SA later in Nov.  Could be completely wrong though...

There does seem to be a similar delay though teamgeorge - roughly 10 extra days that we weren't expecting.

well mine just got pushed back to arriving in Melbourne on 19-11-08... im hitting them up for free car mats at the moment, ive got drives planned in December for the i30 so if i don't get it before then I'm going to really crack it at the dealership... i hate how they're all smiles all the ****ing time... just till they take your money.

what else should I get other than car mats? i like the car mats...

Mine was perhaps on the same boat. I believe my car arrived in Australia last week and the dealer is in the process of registering it as we speak. I am picking mine up on Friday.

If it is any consolation, I have been waiting 7 months to the day.

I'm none too sure what's going on teamgeorge.  It would be great to be able to figure out how the shipping routes work exactly, as according to Zef's earlier posts there was a ship ('Phoenix Leader') on it's way to Adelaide, with stops in Sydney and Melb.  According to the shipping data, it was due in Melb on the 14th (so pretty close to that 10th you originally got quoted), and bang on the 19th I'd been quoted.

So I'm not too sure about these 'storms', if that's the reasoning you've been provided, as it looks as though there is a ship docking in Melb this week with a bunch of i30s.

Btw, I'm waiting on a Steel Grey too.  Maybe the Steel Grey's are just in a later shipment?

TG ask the dealer for the name of the boat. I found out mine before it docked. The takayama. But you should be able to find out which boat it is on and maybe call they're bluff if it is the Phoenix.

As for storms, ask them where the storms were. See how they respond.

well i had an appointment with the dealership this morning and i walked out satisfied and happy i suppose. they had a promotion a week before i ordered my i30 and it came back up and they were able to get me in on the promotion cos they're ordering the car in but it wasn't against my name (even thou it is going to be mine) so instead of the gift voucher i got half of its worth off the car and free floor mats...

They said the boats due into port in Melbourne on the 19th - I'm 3.5 hours away in the Country... I'd suspect 1-2 weeks after the 19th till I drive it from the dealership...

Ideally I need it before the 6th December. If it's after that (and I've told them) I will not be happy again...

But in short, No... They're not going to give me a date they only quote the date it's due into port. As much as he says he chases where the car is, I'm not getting any other dates outta them untill they spring the surprise that it's in...

As you need the car ASAP, Could the Dealer arrange to go and pick it up, or even you, from the distribution depot?

To be honest with all my hours working atm i don't have the time to drive 3.5hours one way to get the car, i'd just really appreciate it if the car arrived in my town for pickup on or before December 5th.

Allowing 1-2 weeks to get to me December 5th is 2weeks and 2 days, I think it's an achievable target unless ive been fed BS.
