  • Wirral, UK. - 1.4 Petrol Active - Aqua Blue

This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens once every 823 years.

This is called money bags.

Kinda interesting - read on!!!

This year we're going to experience four unusual dates.

1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 and that's not all...

Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born - now add the age you will be this year,

The results will be 111 for everyone in whole world.

This is the year of the Money!!!

  • Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.

No so, eye30.

The year you were born in added to your age in any given year will always add up to a number, the last two digits of which will be the same as the last do digits of the year you do the calculation in.

If you did your calculation in say, 1987 for a person born in 1960, the numbers would look like this. 60+27=87 and for someone born in 1945, it would look like this 45+42=87.

Your "111" formula only work for people born in the 20th century. For people born in the 19th century, the figure is 211 and for those born in the 21st the figures is 11. It also only works for this year, next year the trick number will be 112. Last year it was 110.

For example, if a child was born in 2010, they would turn 1 year old this year. Using your formula, that would be 10+1=11.

Like wise if you were born in 1899, you would turn 112 this year. Using your formula, that would be 99 + 112 = 211.

No real mysteries here. Looks like every year must be The Year of Money

Not so again, eye30.

For a 31-day month to have 5 Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the first day needs to be a Friday. Each non-leap year has 365 days, which is 52 weeks plus one day [52*7=364; 364+1=365.] So every passing year will ‘push’ the first day of the month forward by one day, defining ‘forward’ as Friday -> Saturday, Saturday -> Sunday, etc. However, if it’s a leap year, the first day of the month will be pushed forward by two days. Since any six-year cycle will contain at least one leap year, this means that the same "31 day month calendar" should reappear every six years [five one-day pushes forward and one two-day push = one full week covered] unless there are two leap years that fall in that space, in which case the whole cycle will be shifted forward by one day.)

You only have to go back to October 2010 to find the last occurrence of a month with 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. The next occurrence will be March 2013, hardly a rare occurrence.

Does this mean I'm now 823 years old

I wasn't trying to be mean Dazzler, just adding some more information to eye30's post.

I don't want people wandering around being aged 823 and not knowing it :faint: :faint:

I always run these "facts" through something like http://www.snopes.com/snopes.asp or http://www.truthorfiction.com/
Both sites sure sort wheat from the chaff.
I suggest everyone bookmark them and check before hitting send all and filling up their friends email boxes.
Good for all those emails of the type "If 50 people laugh at one of AlanHo's jokes then Hyundai will upgrade all our cars to Lexus i30s."
