In other words "we did some research and found out that a lot of people have had this fall off, and their dealerships told them it was rubbish, better protect ourselves"
... but I'm a cynic :P

Hi Rubix,

A little bit of cynicism can be a healthy thing.

I'll still keep there as long as it lasts if only as that its the first bit of "dodgy" workmanship I've found on the car. Everything else is great.

Does anyone have a photo of exactly where this thing comes from as I would like to put mine back, please? It seems to get soaked with water this weather, then gets heavy and slides out.
Thank you... :)

I'll go take some pics of mine as since its only done 1000km's it should still be there.

What you will find is its more than likely there as an air deflector/seal, with the purpose of it being while stationary to help draw air through the radiator and the A/C Condensor thats sitting infront of it.

You may just notice a slightly decreased A/C efficiency while stationary as once your moving there would be a greater air force on the front and possibly get some extra road grime up onto the front of the radiator core, most cars have these although on my other car its a hard plastic thats cliped + screwed into place.

If enough people see it as an issue and report it, Hyundai like other manufacturers may issue a dealer rework for it , which would possibly include a different design/fastning mechanism.

The world won't end if its not there :D

Mine was danging down at around 750 miles on the clock. I pushed it back up and ten miles later is was dangling again. This time I pushed it back in more carefully and it appears to be staying put for the time being now at 1100 miles on the clock. the end that wasnt dangling was firmly glued so I would say its poor design.

Just chuck the bloody stuff away. It can only be a transportation thing like the blue foam blocks that our Korean cousins are so fond of. Bin the dammed thing I say

Mine's still in my garage.

The rubber also stops dirt grass and other things being sucked into the space between condenser and radiator and blocking the radiator It happened to some Falcons here and they would over heat when their speed increased Blowing the radiator out cured the problem. The falcon has a large fan which causes a lot of suction, I am not sure if the i30 fan would do this
