Re active headrests

I think there is some confusion between the active headrests and the adjustable headrests in the i30.  These are two different features.  The Santa Fe we have (and probably other Hyundai vehicles) have active headrests, meaning that in an accident, the headrests move forward to minimize whiplash.  However, the i30 we have has adjustable headreasts, but the Santa Fe does not.

I'm suggesting that we have two different features here.

Bob

Yes, looks like it. Combination of both.

Hiya Bob.

Could there be middle ground here? Mine are adjustable and are listed as...

I like the two little prongs on the inside of the fuel filler door, so that you can rest the fuel cap without it dripping on the ducco <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" />

I really like this feature. Before I read about it on the manual, I just let it dangle and get all heartache that it is touching the body and the possibility of doing something nasty to the paint. Now I seat the cap on the holder each time I gas up.

Cheers,
Timewalker

When I picked my car up, the dealer showed me the petrol cap one :)

Also did everyone notice the shopping bag hooks in the boot? Best ever!

You can also configure the netting in the boot differently as well. Can be mounted vertically using the shopping bag hooks ;)

Also, how are you supposed to use the parking ticket holder (on the sun visor)?

I like the fact that if you press the right hand pedel down with your foot, sometimes the car goes foward.

Or when you push the middle of the steering wheel and extend middle finger at someone they get a bit angry :)

Sorry couldn't help myself.......

Also noticed that the opener on back of the i30cw is not a latch that needs to be pulled but a electronic button, you just press it!

On the speedo there are two red lines around 30 and 50 klm phr

That's another German thing. Most places are 50km/h around cities and 30km/h around schools.

I know mine are active headrests, but don't know if they are adjustable.. How do you adjust them? I know if I push mine to front they move, but go back than - like a spring (that's the way they work in case of an accident). And I do know how to adjust the height, but is there any else adjustment possible? Don't need it really, but anyway..

Well, I've noticed that the lighter (and the ashtray) don't have any light, although the lighter has a translucent plastic around, it's not iluminated. I've noticed too how heavy is the back of the back seat when you fold/unfold it! Noticed to how inteligent are some devices, like the rain sensors, the light sensors and the seatbelt warnig for the back passengers!

There are 3 positions in which they will lock.. from memory the trick is to pull the head rest fully forward and then ease it back (I find the front setting the most comfortable but my wife likes hers in the middle as the front setting pushes her head too far forward...

Some models do have the illumination. My lighter & ashtray both glow in the dark :) when the lights are switched on

I haven't replied to an earlier posting so I will do so now.  I had a close look at the Australian Hyundai website.  Some of their vehicles have active headrests that have forward/backward adjustment and height adjustment (i30, Sonata, ), some have active headrests with height adjustment only (Elantra, Grandeur, Getz, Santa Fe), and some do not have active headrests with height adjustment only (Accent, Triburon, Tucson).  I could not find anything that referred to headrests on the website for the iMax and the iLoad.

The point I was trying to make in my earlier post was that it is possible to have active headrest without the forward/backward adjustment. As I have had a Getz and currently have a Santa Fe (both of which have active headrests), I have been able to test the headrests out and there is no way of being able to move the headrest independant of the seat back. I was therefore suggesting that the i30 had two features that are not dependant on each other.

I acknowledge the "middle ground" in this debate (Shambles).

Another I noticed on the weekend...

The    R   A   N   G   E      of the door lock remote !!!!!!!

Awesome.

Edit:  For the techno-boffins: I don't know in microns exactly what the range was, but scientifically speaking,  it was truckloads !
At least 3 times that of my Camry !

So powerful is the remote, in fact, I am now scared to bump it in my pocket in case it nukes the "jewels"!!

As mentioned by Shambles in another thread, with the radio off (showing clock + outside temperature) press and hold buttons "1" and "6", and the radio will display its firmware version

Relating to Climate Control

Just noticed this today.  If the Auto a/c is off, and you fiddle with the temperature control knob (turn it up or down), the Auto a/c is activated.  (Note that this is not the case if you have the a/c in one of the manual modes and fiddle with the temperature control.)

the front window dinister turns itself on for windscreen dimisting then off when the window is clear

When you say front Demisting, are you talking about how the air blows through the vents (with a/c) to take the mist away from the front windscreen?  If so, mine doesn't seem to do this automatically. Would be handy if it did!   I have to manually press the button to turn it on and off.

I think European i30's have an element in the windscreen just like we have in the rear hatch

Yeah I see. Darn ... would be a handy feature. They must think it doesn't get cold in Oz!!

ouri30
I have noticed that on cold mornings of I select Auto a/c, the demister is activated for a short time until the temperature inside increases and deactivated the demister.

Is that what the Europeans are refering to?  If so, then ouri30 has it.

Yeah the Euro models have a couple of elements in the front screen, one under each wiper so it's not really a screen heater as a blade heater, however it is pretty effective at keeping the blades from going rock hard in the frost :D
