Bit odd. Sounds like your "snapping" the throttle and its knocking before it gets a chance to rev up.

How many km's and whats the service history? What fuel do you use?

Sounds like a diesel to me, what's it behave like when you rev it normally "without stabbing the accelerator"

A couple of them sounded like the engine "bogging down" when you first put your foot on the accelerator.  It sounds like the mixture is wrong, either too lean or too rich (probably the latter).  Have you tried running a premium fuel in it to see if it is still there?

With the clatter & choofing coming out of that you'd swear it had quite a few hundred thousand k's on the clock...

Might be my ears, but to me it sounds like the AC compressor bolts are loose.

The bolts that secure the compressor in the serpentine belt loop. As you blip the throttle I can hear something moving under the increased tension.

As I said, might just be my ears.

Yes that sounds feasible, in fact you saying the AC has triggered what I was trying to think of when I mentioned  a solenoid and that is the clutch pulling in on the AC compressor, that makes a fair old clunk.

Phone recordings tend to increase the sounds of engine noise as that is what they are designed to do to normal voices.
I wouldn't take too much notice of the sound levels. Investigate the AC pulley clicking on or off. For a test like that, the AC should be off.

I've got my computer at full volume and I can barely hear that, I honestly think you'd be better off taking your car into Hyundai and explaining your issues to them with your videos.

People can only speculate what these noises are but unless you take the car to Hyundai to show them then it's only ever going to be speculation.

As the title of the topic states "This is a new noise is it normal" so I assumed you were trying to further discuss the noise that you've already queried, that'll teach me to assume

Anyhow it would still be the same answer that you need to bring up your queries with Hyundai, imo the lights shouldn't dim like that but I've no idea why it's happening  :undecided:

Lights dimming is perfectly normal.

It can be a result of any of the following conditions

  • RPM of alternator
  • Electrical load
  • Voltage regulator cut in / cut out
  • Batteries ability to accept charge
  • All Eathing pionts and + contact points
All perfectly normal to me.
