I have new GD130 i30 Elite which also includes Auto Headlights. Does anyone find these to be TOO sensitive. Mine turn on even before sunset and I mean with reasonable sunlight in the afternoon.  In the morning before 8am, if I drive into a shady area, lights go on - plenty of sunshine around though.

Someone will respond. I don't know if the setting can be adjusted perhaps.

Same as mine. And I don't think it's a problem to me.  I like it. :happydance:

Hi Pidim

You could always just use the manual settings  :winker:

My Hybrid has Auto headlights and I have the opposite problem .. I would sometimes like them to come on a bit earlier at night (and occasionally do it manually) Mine come on if I go under an overpass even on a sunny day ..

I have not noticed this problem with my car - the lights do indeed come on during the day if the car enters a deeply shaded area - such as driving through an avenue of overhanging trees or under a low wide bridge. However - I consider that this is safe behaviour.   It is better for the lights come on too soon rather than too late.

The light sensor is a small black dome at the centre/top of the dash - right against the windscreen. I assume your sensor is clean, not partially covered by anything or - and I trust you haven't - tinted the screen and thus fooled the sensor into thinking it is darker than it really is.

The sensitivity is not user adjustable - if you are convinced your car is far too sensitive - I suggest you ask your dealer for advice.

I was expecting that reply as when lights are on, DRL should be off by law..

So a follow up question is:
Do the lights turn off automatically and the DRL's come on when the car returns to "normal" light conditions?

Just a thought:
The DRL's give a bright light at the front and do not distract drivers coming in the opposite direction.
In my opinion DRL's would be a better/safer option when in shade/reduced light areas as any sudden lights coming on may distract drivers, unless you need the headlights on to actually see where you are going.
