*RANT*......... Two mainly.......

I can't get over why these stupid Chinese tourist have too desecrate the Botanical Gardens buy tramping thru the garden itself just so they can get a photo by a tree or bush. They have no consideration for the people who put in the hard yards to make it beautiful......... in the end I got stuck into the tour guides over this.......

Secondly....... went to the Shrine of Remembrance and these people where running up the steps and walking down again for exercise.....gave them my two bobs worth for not having respect for what the place stood for.....let the security know and they said they weren't suppose too and did not have enough people to patrol inside and out to stop that sort of thing.....so I applied for the job......hmmmmmm......

RANT over.......  steps so far....23 838......

The weather forecast show some snow and freezing temperatures for the next week, so it's time to do this:

After three winters these are not like new, but still usable. I measured 7 to 8 mm tread depth, which is plenty. One stud seems to be missing, and the remaining ones are more or less worn. Those treads are always full of small stones, so no point to try picking them out now. Winter tyres are seldom needed to replace because of insufficient tread depth, but the rubber compound gets hard over time and will then lose its grip performance, and studs will also vanish one by one when the tyre is aging.

Seems we saw the same weather forecast  :D .I also changed winter tyres today. One wintertyre had lost 1 bar during the summer. I'll have to keep eye on the pressures...

@tohis My studded tyres look a lot worse, and I've only run them one winter! Probably lost 20% of the studs in 9000km.

Forecast is still well above freezing over on this side of the baltic. Been in the negatives 4-5 days so far, I'll make mid-late november this year, I changed the tyres in early october last year.

This reminds me, I'm all out off brake glidepin lube.

That is how I gonna spend one of my day off this weekend). The wheels are stored some 100km away, otherwise I would have done it already, for
- we have got the first snow today  :(
- damn winter is coming

xiziz
my wheels seemed to have lost about a half of studs when I changed them to summer ones this spring.
-/+ not sure whether to buy new tyres or put it off till the next season

I believe this is the right time when looking at the stats. First snow usually comes around this time of the year. Last few years there has not been a lot of snow, especially in the capital area.

@meehalych
You could probably get a tire fitter to restud your tires if the treads are still deep and the rubber is good. Cheaper than new ones if there otherwise ok!

I know mine are studded aftermarket, they came with the car though. I think that's the reason the studs all come so soon. I'm keeping a close eye on them, but expect them to at least make it through this winter...

Hej)
Thanks for the hint, I will take it into account for my next wheels, for I have used my current ones for 3 seasons already - this winter is gonna be the last one for them (the same for summer tyres as well).

+ My new aviation headset arrived today.  It should help with my noise induced hearing loss.

:link: Bose® A20® Aviation Headset

+ Got the Discovery 3 back from the mechanic.  It had to get a new compressor (it has air suspension).
- That cost $1500.

- I need glasses to read.
+ My distance vision is better than good (6/3.8 or nearly 20/12 vision).  That basically means I can see a fly change its mind in the next suburb.

Wow, that headset is flash and expensive. Guess it is a tax deduction?

Yep, tax deductible.  I can see it in the next suburb, not in front of my face though.
