Morning @Bob.W ,

Glad your issue is finally sorted (we hope) but commiserations on your bad day and hopefully the court case judgement is the right one.
Hyundai service departments can also be their own special kind of hell and I'm still recovering from my last issue of failed spark plugs.

I was unable to read any parts of the invoice (excellent redacting), so was wondering if the DCT, or other, firmware was re-applied and/or upgraded? I know the ABS ECU/Motor unit also has firmware and was wondering last night if that may also be a possible fix, not that Hyundai would ever admit to that.
Was the $496 for the 2 hours labour and the wheel speed sensor?

I previously checked my front wheel speed sensors but never got around to the rear ones. I will try and find some free time today to inspect/test the rear ones with a multi meter (should be a simple voltage increase when wheel/hub is rotated) and report back. Failing that, I may just bite the bullet and buy one from the wreckers near my mechanic.
Funny the scans by my mechanic didn't pick up the wheel speed sensor, but I also believe that those can't be tested unless the car is actually in motion, and he only ran tests on my car while it was stationary.

@TerryT , hopefully your car listens as mine is like a 4 year old in a candy store.

Thanks again BobW and hopefully your outcome, albeit expensive, helps the rest of us sorting out our issues. I will also keep everyone updated with my findings, and hopefully a fix too.

Hi Bob, just saw your post yesterday.  Sounds you had one of those "bend over, touch your knees and try not to cry" days.

As a result, I had a stern talk to my car's left rear wheel speed sensor. ;)

EDIT: I have now realised that this is page 2 of this thread and I seemed to have missed the lot?  No matter, as after having a very quick read of the earlier posts I have nothing new to contribute.

The original key fob, key part snapped and I had to get a new key made. I no longer have the original fob. I only have a spare key with no fob. It's been around 7 months no issues until couple of days ago.

I don't have the fob anymore,
I don't understand this "don't have a key fob". So do you only have a manual (dumb) key that does not register with the immobiliser, or is the key battery low/failed?

I was gathering part numbers for weather seals for the doors on my FD from a Korean online supply company. As far as I'm aware these as USD prices. I think I have understood the parts breakdown correctly.

Ugh - had a day from hell. Short version - NEVER, EVER have confidence in the basic commonsense, intelligence & human decency of your societal peers when sitting on a jury in a very important court case. :disapp:

Dropped car off at local Hyundai dealer - explained issue/s. As I avoid them like thee plague (going to the dealer) I also asked if they could check if any vehicle firmware needed updating, specifically the DCT (as I was led to believe this was still the OEM version and had been improved). Also had a rego check done as thats next month or so.

End of day came back after my civic service, advised the Left rear wheel speed sensor was shown immediately by their system to be the issue. They checked it, appeared fine to inspection but tested and it failed so they replaced.

$496 for this alone (not including the rego check).

They claimed 2hrs labour for the job - suffice to say I found it a tad exhorbitant but after having a car reduced to 1990's level of safety for a month (no ABS, no ESP etc) and on the back of a horrid day I just went on my way putting it down as a lesson why I don't go to the dealer. Have attached the invoice with old school redacting - just incase it helps others that have a similar issue.

It appears the sensors are available for $60-100. You may be able to simply install and then clear the codes via a battery disconnection etc - but DYOR.

Lil annoyed overall as a 2018 car should not have ABS sensors failing already.......
