OK.
Taking bets here.
What do you think they will come back with?
I sent this email to the salesman I bought my i30 from.

Hi Chris
How's things in 2014?
I think the change over might be a bit much, but just thought I'd ask anyway.
What would be your best change over on a 2014 i30 diesel manual Trophy, white?
My diesel manual i30 Active is 14 months months old now, 53,000 kms, window tint, FSH, like new of course.
Thanks.
I see in the far east they are doing diesel Trophy autos for this much:
2014 Hyundai i30 GD2 Trophy MY14 Sports Automatic
Regards.

$50......if you throw in that dark blue P76 with the tree stump for a wheel......

23,990 less 2500 for auto 21,490

Say, 15000 for yours. I reckon 7.5 to 8k

You know his name and email,

Surely he sharpens the pencil for you. If not, one of the ladies at work is dating a Hyundai Salesman. If you don't mind the trip to the Gold Coast.

TBH, I actually prefer the "face" of my Active, as opposed to the smiley face on the new one (personal preference).
But I do like the spec of the Trophy.
In fact in my posts before I bought my car, I lamented the fact that the Active wasn't available with leather, indicator/folding mirrors.
Not worth ten grand though.

Yes, the updated Actives have the same fronts as the old Elite/Premium.

Well I've had mine for a few weeks now and just about to get the 1500km service.  It's a great little car, and hasn't let me down with it's size yet and fits the wheelchair in the boot nicely with some shopping (minus parcel shelf). :)  Kids are comfy in the back and happy and seem to be getting enough cool air.

The only issue I have with it is road noise, and the suspension feels kinds stiff, but that may loosen up.  The pros outweigh those minor issues though.  I've also found searching the iPod on the car display a PITA, it just take forever to scroll so I've been using the iPod itself to pick albums and playlists otherwise the touch screen works fine.

What's the go with these kinetic tyres that are fitted to it?  Are they a special type of tyre?

So far car display is 7.6l/100km and roadtrip is say 8.0l/100km.  Still way better than the old Kia at 12l/100km.  :goodjob2:  and parking is 100 times easier!

Still happy with my buy, and

Thank you for that, even if i read it a day after we put a deposit on a Blue Trophy.
The road noise was the only thing I faulted this car during the test drive, everything else was quite impressive, Didn't mind the suspension stiffness, but then again we haven't really taken it out for a long trip yet.

Looking forward to better fuel economy (especially after the Holden Epica)!

Hi kostasw,

It's the ONLY fault I can find with the car which I think is a good thing.  Usually there are a lot of pros and cons when buying a car, but for me this one just ticked all the boxes, great warranty, fixed price servicing, yearly servicing, all the gadgets etc.

The road noise wasn't that noticeable when I test drove it, but it does seem to be dependant on the road surface which changes alot around here.  This leads me to believe it might be down to the tyre choice rather than an issue with the car.  I'm not sure if any other i30 owners have solved this problem with a tyre change?  Mine came with Hanooks Kinetic tyres.  Also my previous car (Kia Grand Carnival) had some sound deadening / rust protection stuff put on it when I bought it.  Didn't bother with this one because I didn't think it added any value to the car, it was just an up sell by the dealer.  I just tinted the windows, put in car mats.  That's all.

Anyway, it's just rolled over 2000kms and getting 7.1lt/100kms.  :)  From a car that did 430kms on 60lt of fuel I'm very happy!

You'll find that once you replace the tyres, the road noise reduces.

Do other kinetic tyres have the same road noise as the hankooks?  Just wondering what to replace them with when the time comes.  I assume the kinetic tyres are fitted to help with fuel economy.

I believe they are. I have read reviews on these tyres, and most seem to say that the harder compound increases noise. I remain sceptical about their value.

The tyre thread has some reviews on tyres others have fitted and the result.
