I see from TV and Newspaper advertising that Hyundai has dollied up the i30, Elantra and iX35 into a Trophy model like they did a couple of years ago when I bought my FD i30 Trophy.

The ads talk about leather bits on the seats and alloy wheels, what else? :undecided:

Thanks Sir Daz, they have a few goodies on the new Trophy then, like my FD Trophy.  I might be interested in the Elantra.

I think you are a petrol driver Lester, so the lack of a diesel option in the elantra wouldn't worry you.. and we would still love you.. in a manly way :D

Thanks Daz and Doggie, yes I am a petrol head, well an Elantra is a modified i30 is it not?  :whistler:  I had a 2004 FX Elantra 2L for a few years, nice car but the front end floated around on the corners.

I will have to re work my finances if I decide to get an Elantra Trophy, we leave on our 3 month trip 6 weeks today, first stop, Chile.

What the Elantra Trophy or Chilly Chile? No, Chile will be like here, well except down south near the Cape Horn, then onto Argentina. :happydance:

Two things:

1. I'm curious about how you guys in Australia market the cars with those Active, Trophy and stuff versions. I thought you had the full versions all the time. I mean, it's usual to find better equipped cars outside Latin America (where I live).

2. Lester, I live in Santiago, Chile. If you happen to need help or something please let me know.

Cheers.

It all comes down to price and what levels of equipment you can afford, I guess.

we have the 3 level + options usually. To sell a few extra they bring out special editions like the trophy with a combination of extras at no, or minimal extra cost...

We also get a three door and an Aussie only SR model with sports suspension and 2.0 petrol motor. Have a look at www.hyundai.com.au

I just bought a trophy after taking over 2 years to buy a new car.  I just couldn't find anything that ticked all the boxes.  I usually upgrade when I buy a car to get the alloys and leather which blows the budget out.  The i30 really impressed me with the specs and warranty and fixed price servicing and when I saw the trophy with leather/alloys included I was smitten. :)  Bye bye tank sized Kia, hello little Hyundai.  Can't wait to put some kms on it.

Yes, it's an i30 trophy.  Picked it up in Brisbane today and drove it 100km home.  Started out with 25km on the clock! :)

Didn't take one photo today, too busy having fun driving but will post up a few photos tomorrow.  Leather interior was a selling point with kids in the car, and the alloys and extras just make it look great.

Fuel economy was good too, started with 12l/100km, when I picked it up, drove 50km around Brissy stopping at lights every few seconds and 100kms up the motorway home to uncongested roads and roundabouts.  I pulled into my driveway with it reading 7.8l/100km.  My old car didn't have all these gadgets, but I think they really make you drive more economically when it's in your face.  The old Kia chugged 12.28L/100km according to my roadtrip app.

Very impressed with it, and I've reclaimed half my garage!

Done. I switched the earthquake machine off for a while.

Have fun in Santa Cruz. Make sure to visit the vineyards!

Here are some piccies of my Trophy. :)

The outside is pretty stock I think, they just added 16" alloys, mirror indicators and they both turn in at the press of a button.  They put a trophy badge on the back and comes with standard reverse parking sensors!   :goodjob2:  The only thing I had to add was carpet mats and tint, and I got the fold out bumper protector because I have to lift my little ones wheelchair in and out.

Here's a few interior shots.  Didn't take one of the back because I have the kids car seats in there, but you get the touchscreen radio, leather wrap steering wheel and leather seats which are nice and comfy.  In the back in just standard seating, no ducted aircon which is a shame because it's the only thing I don't like about the car but I wouldn't spend $4k on the the premium for it. ;)  And there is a cargo net style holder on the back of the passenger and driver seat.  iPod connectivity for both my iPhone and iPod classic by using a standard cable, and bluetooth was setup without even reading the manual.  Typical bloke huh.  :whistler:

If you got any questions just ask.

Thanks for the photos, seems like a great deal!  :victory:

As far as aircon in the back goes, I think there might be a bit of ducting under the front seats for warm and cool air (as the case may be) which are active when the heater/aircon is set to face and feet or just feet.

I'm pretty sure this is the case in most cars now including the previous FD model i30. But can't guarantee it!

I understand you do miss out on the centre console rear vents though.

Looks real nice Lacehim.  Thanks, I am tempted. :blubber:  But then I look at my FD Trophy with only 15600km on the clock.

Enjoy your magnificent motor !  :goodjob2: Looks like your driver/passenger armrests are upgraded too. :D

I think this new Trophy is very good value.
$24790 drive away (advertised price) for a diesel manual Trophy, including the leather, indicator mirrors, folding mirrors, alloys, new face, etc.
That has to be good value.
If I didn't already have an idea of what they'd offer as a trade in after fourteen months' ownership, I would have been interested in that.  :disapp:
