ELECTRICAL | ELECTRONIC | AUDIO / Re: GD-02 Head unit steering wheel control wiring Aerpro & Sony« Last post by Quarrion March 30, 2026, 02:36:29 »Solved it!
No need for some fancy control box. You can just connect the supplied cable to B4 (steer control) & B17 (gnd) then turn on the custom controls in the Sony unit, hold down the buttons and program them. Everything was working except Mute but I reprogrammed that to pause which is way more useful for me. ![]() ![]() I ended up just cutting and soldering these 2 directly to the steering input cable that came with the new head unit. With how many patch cables I needed to buy, how confusing it was to figure out and how expensive it was I would honestly just recommend anyone with even the tiniest but of soldering/crimping skill to just bite the bullet and make their own patch cables or wire it up directly. For the most part things could be connected directly looking at the old and new head unit wiring diagram. I can bin this piece of expensive junk. ![]() 99
DIESEL / Leaky camshaft sensor« Last post by BrendanP March 27, 2026, 19:26:32 »I noticed the camshaft cover on my GD diesel is quite oily at the gearbox end. When I wiggle the bolt which holds the camshaft TDC sensor you can see there is a bit of play in it. The bolt also acts as one of the anchor points for the plastic engine cover. The bolt isn't loose, I tried it with a spanner and it was tight, so I'm guessing there's a threaded bush embedded in the camshaft cover which is a bit loose. Other than the fact that oil seeps out of it and makes the cover grimy, is it otherwise harmless? The photo is how it looks after I wiped away most of the grime. If I was to replace the sensor, is it just a direct swap or does it have to be calibrated in some way?
