If Scott's riding a motor bike when he gets to Rustynuts' place I don't want to know about it. :disapp:

And why would that be Trev, are you anti motorcycles or something?  :whistler:

You wouldn't be the first car driver to be that..... :p
Had my bike licence since 1972.
'twas just a fishing expedition.
And I caught a big one - though it's been in the water too long - gone all rusty. :happydance:

Hey Trev, don't be too smug, did it not occur to you that maybe it was I that was doing some fishing?  :whistler:
No

Every time we have a discussion on motorcycling, you trot out that you've had your motorcycle licence since 1972...that on it's own means nothing... :winker:I'd be interested if you could find anywhere I have mentioned the year 1972 before.
What I'd be more interested in hearing is how many years you've ridden on the road and also when was the last time you threw a leg over a motorcycle.  :p Rode on the road for about 15 years pretty constantly. Since then only when I can find someone who'll lend me their bike - which is enough for me. I really only preferred to compete on them anyway. I'm not anti motorcycles, but I am anti stupid behaviour which can be found in motorcyclists, car,4WD and truck drivers, as well as pedestrians and cyclists (which I AM "anti" even though I ride one of those regularly)

Thanks for enlightening me, Trev..... :D

I felt it was important to know your actual road riding experience rather than how long you've held a motorcycle licence as, for example, I've held a fork lift licence since the early 90's yet I've only ever driven a fork lift once in that time so obviously I ain't no expert on them even though I've had a licence for around 20 years....

This doesn't surprise me as you don't come across as being, or having been a "passionate" motorcyclist, as far as riding on the road was concerned.

Anyhow, cheers..... :goodjob:

Can I join in and claim some bragging rights  - I have held a motorbike licence since 1955. I was an engineering apprentice at the time working for a company which manufactured air compressors, small engines and built specialist motorbikes of all descriptions for enthusiasts. I had plenty of opportunity to ride them for testing purposes.

For many years - even later when I had a car - there was always some form of 2 wheel motorised transport in my life starting with motorised push bikes, motor scooters and a series of "proper" motorbikes up to 500 cc in size. I even had a sidecar on a bike for a year or two.

I also used to regularly use fork lift trucks in the factory - as an apprentice I was treated as a go-for and had to do a bit of everything. However - although at one time a proficient fork lift truck driver - I never had to hold a licence.

The last time I "threw my leg" over a bike was 3 years ago when I visited an old friend in Scotland who had a collection of 11 vintage and fairly modern bikes. We had fun for several days touring on each the 5 bikes he kept taxed and insured for road use. The best was a 350cc racing AJS 7R from the 1960's which won the Junior Manx TT in I think 1962 or thereabouts.

So there...... :harhar:

Well you're 11 years older than I am so that helps.
Oh. And I've held a forklift licence since 1974. :happydance:
And used it regularly for only about two years then only (very) intermittently after that until 2004 when  I had need of it often again. I have to say I love operating forklifts.

And R/N, I got my licence to ride on the road. The competition only came about a few years later as a fill in when I was finding rally cars too expensive.

Holding a licence - and actually using one are two different things.

A bachelor friend always wears union flag underpants. He achieves great success with blondes by telling them that he is a licenced sex therapist and as captain of the National Screwing Team he has to wear the uniform at all times.

er....did I just wander off topic a little................... :whistler:

Unfortunately I'm just old enough to have seen them in their first airing in the 60's.... :undecided:

FMS: False Memory Syndrome. You only think you saw the original broadcasts. In fact, they were the 1989 repeats when you were seven. (PS: Happy 30th birthday.)  :happydance:

The fork lift comment was only meant as an example of how you can hold a licence and not actually have much experience, it wasn't meant as a p*ssing contest...

Btw, I did enjoy your biking comments, Alan..... :goodjob:

Oh, and Trev, why else would you get a licence, other than for riding on the road?  :winker:

Piff - that's nothing - I was fork lifting from 1955 onwards - driving a smoky noisy clanking ancient diesel job brought to the UK from Germany as war reparations. It still had some Luftwaffe insignia left on its rump....... :whistler:
