Thanks Surferdude, I actually got paid for driving Cooper S's back around 1970. :goodjob2:
NSW Special Traffic Patrol Police, forerunner of the present Highway Patrol.

The GTHO Falcons were not bad either, I won't even mention the Rambler Rebels, light in the tail, as were the GTR Toranas and Valiant Chargers. :fum:

I have not driven the modern Coopers. So my comparison was from the Dinosaur years.
Yep. They were the ones I was referring to. never driven or even sat in a BMW Cooper. :snigger:

db08 been doing altanate week about running between the two cars for months now,the result is the same constantly,I drive to and from work on cruise control on both cars, all I can put it down to is the difference in the gearing ratios, the 6 spd cruising at 105kph sits on 2000rpm and the 5 spd cruising at the same spd sits on 2450 rpm,big difference when you spread that over 1500kilometres.
Rick

Thanks, I knew I wanted the 6 speed for a reason.

My dad bought an old A30 and I'd sometimes borrow it if my car was off the road. It had a 0-60 time of about 35 seconds with the wind behind it - plus the brakes would get you from 60 to a stop in about 20 seconds if going against the wind.

It certainly taught the driver to anticipate possible upcoming hazards - that's for sure. :)
