an investigation of the road was performed by various authorities and his recommendation of resurfacing and a lowering of the limit from 100 to 80 kmh was performed.

The classic "fix"  :fum:

I was stopped on our freeway for doing 90 in 110 zone. The policeman thought I was drunk and driving safely home. Got tested, 0.00 reading, told him I was just enjoying the ride home.

Should have booked you!  :snigger:

In WA you're not allowed to travel at more than 20 km/h under the speed limit on a freeway.
So 80 km/h is tolerated in a 100 km/h zone but do 79 or less and you're in line for an infringement notice.
This only applies to freeways, not highways.

I can see the wisdom of a rule like that. I was doing 90 because at 20:30 Hrs, I was the only car on the road. The cop was parked in the grass median strip away from incoming lights, you'd never have known he was there.  :undecided:

It may be different in SA anyway Phil.
Plus we only have two freeways here, Mitchell & Kwinana.
Actually, thinking aloud as I go, I may have to stand corrected anyway.
I have a feeling that they extended this law to include highways with a speed greater than something, maybe 90 km/h..... :undecided:

do the speed limit or a tad under you won't get caught,Phil as stated in another post in a different thread I have changed my driving style, but I must admit if your on a freeway or dual carriage way where there is a set speed limit,if your in the outside one or two lanes do the limit,if you want to go slow stay the F*#k in the left lane.

Lakes your point of keeping your eyes on the road 100% of the time, not sure how you drive, but I can monitor all my gauges, mirrors and still have full awareness of what is happening in front of meand around me(unless I'm tired and then I shouldn't be on the road at all),but I agree you shouldn't be playing with your phone, looking in your handbag or glovebox, screwing around with CD's or tapes, your attention should be on what is going on around you, in front of you and what is happening with your vehicle.

Dave we haven't got freeways over here we have modified goat tracks and car parks, other than outter NSW and Qld roads,WA would along with the worse drivers in the world we would have to have the worst roads and so called freeways in Australia. The road systems over here are an Absolute joke.

your right, Rick , just saying it's unreasonable to expect fractional over speed limit, seems to be worse here than communist China. this used to be a free country too. if politicians want the sa,e rules to play by. if they make a promise then don't keep it there out. we would b forever at the poll's what do u recon?

I obviously misunderstood your post, but yes fractional over spd limit is a little silly,as for the pollies and their promises, there is an old saying take half of what they say, then quarter that, maybe one fifth of that is truth, all pollies should have an explosive charge placed in their heads, when they lie or break a promise, this would set off the charge, this would be a great deterant for them, plus it would give me great enjoyment when watching question time, this show could then be called Exploding heads
