I've swapped my house to RACT probably switch the cars as well if they keep their rates down..
we've got 3 cars, house and contents and out buildings contents [garage and garden shed] all with the one insurer, its heaps cheaper than having multiple insurance companies.

They seem to leapfrog each other a bit but RACT will give me a further discount on everything if I swap all to them next year.. Like Trev says really need to check a few each year..

AAMI , Allianz and RACT all do pay by the month .. (AAMI kept getting dearer and my Daughter found them slow and not overly helpful with her recent run of claims..)

Just did an online quote for my i30 with AAMI.....

Came out around $5.00 a month cheaper...but, instead of the agreed value of $30,000 that I have with APIA, AAMI reckons the agreed value should only be $26,000. Excess is $145.00 more.....

Oh, APIA have a 10 year new for old feature for if your car is stolen.

Think I'll stick with Apia for the moment..... :)

EDIT: Just got an online quote with RACV.....they're around $6.00 more a month than what I currently pay.....agreed value was the same at $30,000.

We're not interested in "pay by the month".
Not giving anyone a "direct debit" authority if we don't have to.
My wife has over 30 years as an RACQ/NRMA member which makes a difference as does Lifetime "No claim" bonus and multiple insurances as Daz says.
And there's an extra off because of a) our age and b) not working full time.

I'm not a member of the RACV, I can't see the point when I have a new car..... :-\

I'm not a big fan of direct debit, but it seems to be a fact of life these days....especially if you pay anything monthy.

I'm not a memeber either but my wife is and the discounts apply to us both.
Her car is pretty new and low mileage, too but it gives her peace of mind.
The only monthly charges we pay are for Austar and ozemail and they go on our Visa.
I won't (until I absolutely have to) use a toll transponder because of the fine print in the agreement and the way, at least in Qld, they have the rules written about what they can charge you for behind the scenes. It's absolutely a case of, "we have your money, you have to prove otherwise before we'll give it back to you".
(Don't start me on Anna Bligh or you might find we have more similar views on "government" than you've assumed).
As for other things, we prefer to pay annually and that generally allows us to negotiate a slightly better price or actually gives you a better price than 12x monthly.

All auto trans drivers only need one leg, it's more to do with the brain and how quick they react. some oldeer people are not as active and you know the rest.

Got my insurance renewal recently (with Apia) and after a bit of renegotiation I still have agreed value of $30,000, my tinted windows have been added, I've upped the kilometres I can do a year and I'm also saving around 5 dollars a month over last years premium....

Gotta be happy with that.... :D  :goodjob:
