Does anyone else find it hard to read the speedometer without the lights on? I find in the daylight with sunglasses on it is almost impossible

Hi Leanne Welcome to the forum...

This issue has been mentioned in the suggested improvement section.. see here..

https://www.i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,12.0.html

The easy fix is to drive around with your parks on (can leave them on 24/7 as they will switch off automatically when you remove your key and open the drivers door)

Hope that helps...

Hi Leanne, welcome to the club :D

As our club becomes increasingly popular we get visits from quite a number of bots, most of which are quite benign like Google and AOL. Some, however, arrive here trying to permeate our spam control functions; in particular they try to harvest email addresses. We can stop them all but only if we see them early enough

With that in mind it might be a good idea for you to change your displayed name such that it doesn't resemble an email resource. You can do this by simply clicking "Profile", then "Account Related Settings", then enter a new value - say, Leanne - in the "Name" field :)

Welcome again, and I hope you sort out your speedo-reading issue :D

Yes.

Also I find the numbers hard to read but here in UK there is a red line at 30 mph (built up area speed limit) which helps.

ps welcome

I never noticed it being a problem.

Maybe they read our earlier thread and the instruments are now illuminated when the ignition is turned on ( can you confirm or deny this Lorian or sparki)

I also have never seen it as a problem on my older model :)

My speedo and rev counter only "illuminate" when the auto light function decides it needs to turn the headlights on (or if I turn on manually which is almost never).

However these are BIG black dials we are talking about with clear white writing? In the little sunshine we have had this week I haven't noticed any bad reflections or other issues.

My lights are permenantly on purely to ensure that I can see the dash information during the day. Else, it's impossible to read anything more than which gear I'm in, how long I have till the tank is empty and how many kms I've done.

Def something not right there.
My dash info is easily read during daytime.

I agree. The dash is poor. Designed for show, not go. It's lousy. Turning the parkers on helps with the dull display but then the trip computer is too dull.

The different size alternating fonts in the speedo reduces the legibility as does the needle which covers the numbers on the calibrations. It's all wrong in my opinion. I also mentioned the amount of blue light in another post which should be reserved for a high beam indicator as this has become universal.

I have been taking particular note since this thread started I was possibly the first to post this as an issue in suggested improvements (without checking) It depends on the ambient light..

I have been driving with my parks on almost since I bought my car 2 years ago because it is definitely easier to read the dials when illuminated (although I agree with pip that it does make the trip computer harder to see especially with sunnies on) Anyway to cut a long story short I havent had my parks on since one blew, which I will replace 2moro..

If the sun is behind you or over your shoulder it is fine but if in your face or a dark day , or you have sunnies on it is way too dark ...

My parents always told me to never drive with the parkers on as it confuses other drivers. So i never have and not sure how it could confuse anyone lol

Funny how these things stick... I don't like driving with windows down because of the wind boom noise it usually makes ..
I told both my daughters when they were little (they are half sisters and 10 years different in age) that it was illegal to drive on the highway with the windows down.. It stopped them doing it for a fair while (they still remember and laugh about it now)
