Washer fluid warning light came on and so I filled the reservoir (it was low) but the warning display will not switch off. Any ideas or fix? Thanks.

Should extinguish after you've driven a short distance.

Already driven several miles, no luck.

Does water now come out the nozzles or is it blocked?

If no water may be the unit is faulty

Everything works fine apart from the low washer fluid warning not going off, no blockages anywhere.

Another idea...

If you have tried the battery disconection, take the fuse out and put back in and see if this resets it.

or

If not tried battery disconnection take fuse out away and put back in.

or

Trace lead to washer unit and remove lead.
Make sure connectors are clean and reconnect.

and finally....

if still under warranrt take it back to dealer to sort out.....

I have the same issue - dealer says it "needs a new sensor, which is on order" - to be replaced under warranty so I didn't look the part up, I can if you need the part number.

It's just that all times previously it went out as soon as the reservoir was filled and the ignition turned on, I'll know better next time.

May still be a faulty sensor like Lorians..

  • I love my SLX i30
Hi.
Here's just a stab in the dark. Although I haven't experienced this issue with my i30, I did have a V8 Calais that had sensors everywhere measuring everything. Once my windscreen washer fluid sensor did what you said by not going out after refilling. What I did was to reach under the bottom of the water bottle and gently "tap" it a few times to shake loose the float which had became stuck on the bottom. Once it free'd up and floated, the sensor registered "full" and the light went out.
Give the gentle "tap" a try and if that doesn't work, Hyundai will always be above excellent in repairing warranty issues.
I love my :i30:

^--- that's a fair call. It's what I would hope to have happened when I mentioned to "drive around for a while".

looked in my bottle and can not see any float.

isn't it just a sensor built into the connector thingy~?

No floats just a sensor near the bottom.

So you reckon it's a tappet problem then... :snigger:

Mine was a little temperamental before it failed.
There is little point in tapping the reservoir, it doesn't have a separate float.
When it does fail this is the part, and its fitted from below the reservoir:
