  • Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.
Instead of arguing about who's got the longest arms etc, here's a thought for testing the engine bay alarm. Bear in mind, this is suggested by a mere female, so it might not work.  :D :D

1. Pop the hood from inside the car.
2. Get out of the car (with the remote).
3. Close but do not lock the doors.
3. Open the hood. (Secure it in place so it doesn't hit your scone )
4. Hold the pesky little switch down with your finger.
5. Lock the car using the remote.
6. Wait a few minutes and remove your finger from the pesky little switch.

Will that work

Of course that will work (some "mere" female), however it is not what the original statement was which was about locking the car then topping up the washer bottle without unlocking (and disarming the alarm)
What we have worked out then is that some people have the ability to open the bonnet through an open window, although I still would not leave the window open and then lock the car, in the UK that would still be an open invitation to tea-leafs even if they have to crawl through the window "Dukes of Hazzard" stylee
