I can NOT stand, and am always exposed to: Drivers attempting to leave a parking lot or side street with a stop sign, who roll up to the sign, look,  see you coming, then fail to stop so they do not have to wait for you, even though there is nobody behind you, and then I have to brake/downshift (the rev-matching is a little perk though).

"Baby on board" ...and when you look .....baby moving around, mother smoking and talking on the mobile whilst exceeding speed limit......see it all the time...sometimes I wish I was a patrol copper. :fum:
or when the kids are standing on the rear seat looking at you as your driving along.  :disapp:  :faint:  a recipe for disaster.  :scared:

Well here's my take, i always thought the baby on board was just in case of an accident ( they happen) and i mean a really bad one, with that sign rescue workers would know to search for a baby. but latter on i think young mum's thought there hubby's might start picking up young things in the family car, so put that sign up to warn off other girls that they could finish up with a baby on board also.

mick55
Tailgating predominantly and those who don't drive to the conditions. Tailgating is illegal here in SA, but unfortunately the law is not enforced, easier pickings for the cops with speed traps etc..... I suppose :(

Hey Dazz

Have you seen the movie "Duel" first Steven Spielberg movie.

It will surely remind you this scary truck experience you had.

Has anyone else seen it ? it's quite good actually.

I dont mind the baby on board stickers, it informs emergency services to look for a possible child in the wreck if the car is in a bad accident. a child might have been thrown from the vehicle.    as mentioned before,

My big pet hate is people who tp the brakes, or slam them on while looking in the mirror to stop somone who is tailgating, even though they are driving 20% below the posted limit.
in me arlier days as a courier driver in syd, i used to get this all the time,    not sure if people dont know the road rules, but anything that happens behind the B pillar of the car is NOT my responsability, i dont care about tailgaters, as i drive loking forward not behind..if they hiot me, their problem. and their insurance companies.  if someone tailgates me, so be it, be aware of it, and adjust my driving style to suit, as in brake a little earlier and be more on the lookout for dangers, just as you always should.   i will not do things to influence the driver behind me..

I have seen 2 accidents caused by people too busy looking in the rear view mirror tapping the brakes, and not seeing the parked car in the lane ahead,  one lady hit the parked car at 70 Kph! with no attempt to hit the brakes as she was watching me change lanes to go around the parked car.

oh, and MY Family stickers!   Always on SUV's that never leave the city.  almost like the stickers are their justification for driving a gas guzzling urban tank to do the shopping in and pick up the 2 kids they could easily fit in an i30...

Ultralights, the "Baby on Board" sign is no different to people who tatoo their blood type on their arm (like racing drivers). No responsible medical person will take any notice of it. With teh baby sign, emergency services people are driven by baby capsules and booster seats, not a sign which might be accurate once a month like in a grandparents car. Other indicators like nappy bags, kids' toys and so on are also fair triggers but at the end of the day, a thorough search has to be made anyway.

old people, WHY DRIVE SLOW!! arghhhhh

I can only speak for myself here, but I drove slowely because I am on a mission to avoid buying to much fuel.  I have no idea how much fuel costs in Oz but I can assure you that over here it costs a lot of money.  This is OK if you have money to burn and it sounds as though you do.  Most of us do not.

I try t o hold my speed to a boring 60 MPH, I stay in the inside lane, usually tailing a 42ton truck and watched the brain dead flying past burning twice the amount of fuel that they ought too.  When I know that the motorway is going to divide, which it does several times on my work journeys, I sit in the middle lane in the full knowledge that the inside lane is effectively another motorway, or will be in three or four minutes this results in certain people whizzing past in the outside lane, then, having to dangrerously FORCE there way into the nearside lane which is now filled with traffic whom, like myself, are familiar with these roads.................

No offence intended  :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

I don't like being behind big 4WD and Vans (I realize vans are a necessity for business and have driven them in previous jobs) but a lot of the big 4WD are just big road hogs blocking your forward vision and muscling their way through the traffic

I think we have the most aggressive drivers in W.A. so that is my pet hate whilst driving. Lack of courtesy and unnecessary aggression.

Congratulations on 15,000 posts Dazz too. How quick was the third 5000 compared with the first & second? It seems to have happened a lot quicker or is that my imagination?

Has anyone mentioned drivers who cannot maintain a constant speed on any piece of road be it freeway speeds or even going from 40 to 60 all the time in say a 60 zone!  Annoyes the crap out of me,  usually the same people who will sit around 80 in a 100 zone then take off to 120 or more at overtaking lanes then back to 80ish again after it,

Ahhhh....drivers who cannot maintain speed. Yes, certainly a problem. But how about the ones who are slowly meandering the roadway, seemingly asleep, only to "awaken" once you pass them. Then they go tearing off ahead like they're in a race. I'm poor as can be, yet I always PAY attention  :P

Never seen the sense in everyone sitting in the left lane on a 3 lane highway, road rule or not....

On a 3 lane highway you'll find me sitting in the middle lane....  :goodjob:
