Yesterday we did a 45,000 klm service on a 2 litre petrol i30.
Expected it to be just oil, filter and plugs as per the handbook.
Here are pics of the alternator and aircon belts we replaced. It might be worth having a look at yours. Mine are OK.
This car also needed front pads. One owner, nearly 4 years old (the car not the driver). Couple who own it are probably in their 50's. No evidence of thrashing or hard driving. The pads weren't overheated and the rotors were fine. Only needed a light skim.

Not particularly. Got both from Repco but I didn't pay attention to the amount. Both about the same though.

Sure is. Interesting that the one which had shredded a rib didn't show any signs of cracking.
I haven't checked mine yet but will do so soon.

Hi Steve.
Those photos are of two separate belts. One for the alternator and one for the air con. Yes they are serpentine belts not v-belts but they are each only about 12" in diameter.
Which belt are you talking about on your car?

Yep. Replace at 120,000 klms. Inspect each service up till then.

i just had a good look at the belts and they are both serpentine belts, both are only about 15mm wide. i assumed they we're only v-belts because of them being so narrow.  :-[  the belts don't look like a very high quality item either.   :scared:

About 15mm wide is pretty right.
Mine at 35,000 klms look fine so I'm guessing this guy's were a different OE supplier. The car is nearly 4 years old.
The aircon one was the one with the cracks, probably exacerbated by the fact that it turns itself inside out running over the idler pulley. The one with the missing rib is from the alternator and just runs outside 3 pulleys.

At 45k and 4 years are these covered under warranty on Oz?

Drive belts, bulbs, clutches, brake pads etc are not normally included in warranty as far as I know.
