Thanks Brian .. The more I see of the i40 the more I like it.. I'm guessing it will be slightly cheaper than the i45 and i think I like the front more  :goodjob: It is on the short list to replace the Hybrid in a bit over 2 years time  :happydance:

Is that right? Where did you hear that Dazz? Is it definite?
I love the i40 sedan even more than the wagon.
Gee, they make it so hard.

Yeah i was talking to a Hyundai salesman in Launceston today and when I said the i40 was top of the list to replace the Hybrid in a year or two he said you might prefer the sedan .. He doesn't reckon they need it with the Elantra and i45 as well. :winker:

They do, because the Elantra & i45 are petrol only

Why didn't I think to say that ..

I like the stying of the i40 wagon so would only be interested in the sedan if they offered a manual diesel further up the range in the sedan than the active model ...

This has made my day.
I feel like a kid in a candy shop now.
I love the i40 sedan AND it gives me time to save up my pennies.  :)
I really like the new i30 but I will have to give this some serious thought. Just about to hit 120,000 kms in the trusty old one.
And if I haven't mentioned it before, I really like my bank manager. He's a great guy. (Just in case he reads this  :D)
I found this link too. I like Hyundai's objectives.

And this one:

http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/motors/a/-/motors/12947125/sedan-joins-hyundai-s-i40-line-uphyundaii40/

So i40 diesel sedan, turbo Veloster coming & SatNav available in the i40.
All good news.

Here is a video of the i40 sedan.
The first part is just showing it driving but the later part is showing close up detail.
Interesting that this (U.K. spec) car appears to be an upmarket one but has the 6 speed manual transmission.
Hyundai Australia, are you listening?  :)

Not working - not sure how to fix that  :undecided:

Fixed. Thanks Bumpkin.

I am torn, actually.
The reason is I really like the look of the i40. I like the i45 and probably would have already bought one if they had a diesel variant, but didn't consider it because it's petrol only.
But a manual diesel i40 sedan really does appeal.
Having said that, so does the new i30, so the logical thing to do is wait until they are both released and make an informed decision then.
But, I also want to fully restore my old Austin 1800 and upgrade it for everyday use, including air conditioning and other mod cons. Basically to new car standard, albeit without modern day safety features, airbags, etc.
And I can't do both. Restoring cars isn't cheap and it's one or the other I'm afraid.
At least I have time to think about it because the new i30 & i40 aren't here yet.
If I bite the bullet and go ahead with the 1800 I know I'll regret it when I see the i40 & the i30.
But conversely, if I decide to get a new Hyundai, I know I'll regret it later for not having done the Austin, especially as the new Hyundai will continue to depreciate from day one.
It's a dilemma, but I can't complain because I guess it's not a bad dilemma to have.
I just wish my Lotto numbers would come in........... :)
Even if they only release the i30 & i40 in manual form in the base model, I think I'd be very happy with either of them. And then I could use the money I saved by not buying the upmarket versions to add the few things I'd miss.
I've even thought keep my old i30 (which I still love owning & driving) and do the 1800 slowly, over time.
Sleepless nights ahead me thinks

I am also glad they are rolling these models our slowly .. I won't be ready until atleast this time next year to swap (maybe the year after..) but the i40 is definitely at the top of my list after seeing that video..

The Petrol i40 Wagon had invisible exhausts at the back (I had another look at it today.. ) I noticed the sedan in the video had them exposed, one on either side (looked good)

The video is the 1.7 diesel, must be different to the petrol model.
