I've had my car since December 2008 and I'm only now needing new tyres (they've hit the marker).

Current tyres are the ones that came with the car (I think Yokahama).

Looking at Michelin.

I'm no longer doing as much highway driving as previously (only 2 days a week vs 5 days a week).

I will be doing a long drive in Dec/Jan this year (approx 1000km).

TIA for your suggestions.

How many kms on the car?
Mine came with Hankook Optimo K415, I've done 30,000 and believe there is around 5000 kms of tread left.

Pika, a couple more questions. Did you buy the car new?
And can you check exactly which brand of tyre is fitted and the size.
If original they should be Hankook or Kumho and they'll be something ending in either 15", 16" or 17".

Yes bought the car brand new (Feb 08 plates).  I'm at around 89,000km.

Tyres are Hankook Optimo.  (I think I had Yokohama on my old car).

You've got 89,000 klm out of a set of tyres? On a front wheel drive car?

VERY well done.

If that's the case and you've been happy with them, I'd be using the same again assuming they are still available.
Changing to someone else's recommendation will always introduce a few variables into the mix. Also, if you stay with the Hankooks, don't expect quite the same mileage second time round. Everything in the car is just that little bit worn so tyre wear will suffer a lillte bit.

I think they're the original set....now you have me thinking!  I don't recall changing them.  I'll have to check my booklet.

And no I don't drive like a granny!  Ha ha.

So yeah, they were the original tyres as I always go to Bob Jane.  Not bad for 5 days a week highway driving.

Didn't have Hankook in stock so I ended up with Michelin Energy XM2 ($205 each) http://www.michelin.com.au/Home/Products-Services/pattern-detail/PassengerCar/EnergyXM2

So you didn't go for cheapies then...I reckon they should be a step up from the OEM tyres  :goodjob2: :goodjob:
