I've recently turned 40 (well, in July) and realised that I am still studying for the job that I currently do!!  Is anybody else in the same boat?  I know that Doctors, Lawyers, etc need to keep studying their whole careers.

Anyway, back to the books......

yep I am coming up to 68 and it is a legal requirement that I study within each renewal of my nurses PIN No (lisence to practise) my collegue on this forum will affirm that this is so...  We must prove fitness to practise.  Now then what this really boils down to is that THEY, you know THEM, well they can squeeze MORE money out of us to pay for these renewals.

Now then, when me and Florence started in this game, I paid my registration fee FOR LIFE...  <sigh> every dam thing is a moeny maker   :fum: :fum: :fum: :fum: :fum:

I'm going to take a relaxation course for retirees.

It will fill in my time - at present I do nothing all week - then relax at week-ends.

My wife asked me what I was going to do today.
"Nothing", I told her.
"You did that yesterday", she said.
"I didn't finish", I replied.

I finished my last exam for my ATPL(H) today!!  (Sorry, Airline Transport Pilot License (Helicopter))  Woohoo!!   :happydance: :happydance:

No more study now for two whole days!!  Then it's a check ride in a Seminole on Friday, a bit of a flight on Saturday (probably up to Mildura) so I'll have to prepare for those.  Oh, and next year, when I start my new job, I'll have to study for my Kiowa Captaincy and Instructor qualification....

This sh*t never stops!!!   :scared:

I hate study (and always have) I don't mind assignments and projects but working through a text book leaves me cold. We ahve training modules at work that used to be voluntary but now they are compulsory

I prefer to learn "on the job"  :winker:

I find if it's a topic that I chose, no worries. But if a company or part of a course of study that I'm not 100% into, then it's hard for me to retain. Some people are just more academic than others. In my earlier years, the company I worked for was famous for throwing people in the deep end, it was either sink or swim. AND if you went on holidays, you were blamed for everything that went wrong. Company policy was "Blame anyone who's not around." Glad I'm out of it now.  :happydance:
