Now that frosty mornings have arrived causing the daily ritual of scraping ice off the windows of the car - I am reminded of the same problem I experienced last year.

Internal fogging of the windows.

To drive off safely I have to either sit with the engine running and the climate control on full blast - or wipe all the windows with kitchen roll - to remove the condensation.

This car seems to suffer far more than any other car I have owned - and I cannot work out why.

Somehow, sometime, via somewhere damp is entering the cabin and lurking there until the windows are cold enough to cause the condensation - but it matters not whether it has rained the day/night before - the problem remains.

Do other members in countries with a UK type climate suffer the same?

I noticed this the first cold spell some 4 years ago.

I found that cold air was coming in through the vents at the front window.  The vents don't seem to seal close but are open.
(When driving, with the fan off, you can feel the air entering through these vents due to the forward motion of the car)

By altering the vent control to say internal, the air entering is reduced.
Although condensation is still there I found that it is less.

Don't just hit the "off" button when you park up for the night; hit the "feet" directional button and jab the recirc switch.

Yes, I suffer slight morning condensation too, though it clears within about 30 seconds with the windscreen defogger on.

I wonder your ventilation system still works if you "hit and jab" the buttons.  :whistler:

I will try your suggestion - but will it work if I just "press" the buttons....

Would Amir Khan be where he is today without hitting and jabbing? No.

And you never saw Mike Tyson with morning condensation problems did you? No.

Hit and jab. It's where it's at.

Too much heavy breathing I suspect.

Do you run your air conditioner. If so, it is possible that condensation on the evaporator coils is drying out overnight & entering your vehicle through the vents. This increases humidity & with overnight temps, will re condense inside the vehicle glass.

We use the air cond to cool us in Oz mainly. If we have to dehumidify in the mornings, fortunately our days are warm enough to dry the internals of the air cond (usually).

Have you cleared out your lovely garage yet, maybe that would help.

I get that issue also, but recently discovered on removing my headliner (yes i got it!! pictures up soon hopefully ) that around my aerial base had a lot of moisture! Possibly my fault when removing it and never tightening it correctly (withoutremoving headliner not easy).
Also staying out in the car on a cold night, doesnt help, as a the widscreen etc steam up (hot girls food etc.
Best practise would be to run the heating until the car has no moisture in it whatsoever and all condensation goes, leaves less for the morning. Same thingwith a damp microfibre cloth. I use it for cleaning the wind screen etc. it would have moisture trapped on it also

Hi All,

I have noticed this too.  When I went to the snow, it took ages for the windows to clear up.

Really had no clue why...I just frantically turned A/C on and off....to heat from cold and vice versa.

Then frustated, I started driving...and things cleared somehow by itself.

no clue...good that it doesnt snow where i live.

I dont think this is a Hyundai specific problem, it has more to do with how well built cars are these days, the seals are so good that any internal moisture can't evaporate away like it used to (when I were a lad and all that).

Both my i30 and ix20 had/have this and the ix20 is prone to fogging up even when you have been in the car for a while if there is rain or a temp. drop.  I probably notice it more in the ix20 because that has manual CC, whereas the i30 kinda sorted itself out with AUTO.

My fathers Honda is the same, if anything even easier to fog up than my ix20!  (without hot anything :whistler: :whistler: )

I had the same problem with my Getz and so have now with i30. That is a real disaster when driving in rain, so I switch A/C on and it really helps - the windows are being cleared within seconds.

Sorry guys :) It was only 9.00am here when i posted that... first thing in the morning humour :P

Though a Circuit board chip should be easy enough to install without the wife noticing.

My i30 seems to be slightly better by leaving the aircon set on Recirc overnight.

We had torrential rain during the night and temperatures down to 3 centigrade - this would normally cause the car to be badly affected by condensation on all internal windows. However - this morning there was just a small amount of condensation at the bottom of the screen which soon cleared on the front climate control setting.

I'll have to try this method for myself, though think it would be best to loan a de-humidifier for a day to dry the inside of the car out.
