What do y'all use to clean the interior of your car?  ie doors, back of seats (where the plastic is), windows etc?

My nephew's short legs touch the back of the passenger seat and it's a bit dusty (and probably has a few scratches), plus there's water marks from rain when getting in the car or having the window down briefly (like to pay for parking).

Biggest issue is cleaning the front windscreen so it's not streaky and you can see every wipe mark.

Our car is a pre owned vehicle with 20k on it now. There are a couple of very fine scuff marks where something hard has touched the plastic. It is difficult to remove and I'm thinking about using some boot polish to restore the black again, then wiping it off gently to not leave any residue.

Regarding the window. I would use a reputable glass cleaner with a clean cloth 1st. Then follow up with paper, not a paper towel or chux as they leave their own dusty marks. Something like plain butchers paper without any inks etc. Try your side windows first and if you're happy, proceed to the front glass. DO NOT USE THIS METHOD ON THE REAR WHERE THE DEMISTER ELEMENT IS OR YOU'LL STUFF IT UP.  :)

On my plastic bits I wipe over them with a moist chamois (one of my old ones).  That seems to get most of the dust and dirt off.  As for the scratches, well, I don't think I will get them out.

I also use window cleaner (occasionally) on the inside of the windows, but NEVER where the rear demister is, as 84 stated, it can stuff it up.  Another option, which you can use anywhere, inside and out, again is a clean moist chamois (not the one you've just used for the plastic).  To get rid of the streaks afterwards, straight away use a cotton or micro fibre terry towelling cloth to wipe it dry.  This method leaves no streaks at all (if done properly).

Do not use window cleaner such as Windex or anything with ammonia on your tinted windows....warm soapy water is all you need.  :Juggler:

As to cleaning the plastics, I just use Armor all....

Here is my 2 cents:

Plastic inside = moist MF cloth, if really dirty you can use APC, or some window cleaner does remove some of the more stuborn stains,
Windows = as other have said you can use an old chamios, and
Scratches inside = nothing will really get them out, sorry.

cheers

Ralph

Removed some scuff marks on the plastic on the doors, and long scratches from shoes with "magic sponges" with great success. After using the sponge I whipe off the plastic with 303, the plastic is back to normal and the marks where gone. Of course depends on the depth and damage, had a long deep scratch, it wasn't completely gone but close to. Either way it seems to help.

Sometimes I think I'm in a parallel universe. I thought 303 was a WW1 army issue rifle.

Been tempted to try it myself.... :undecided:

Actually, I must give those magic sponges a try on the scratches on the back of my seats.

Please yell out once you've given it a try.
Always good to have something effective ready for the soft plastics in the i30.

Re hiding the scuff marks....is this the product that we are referring to ?    303 Products Aerospace Protectant    :undecided:
http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/product/303_products/aerospace_protectant

When I did the Jetseal 109... I noticed that the black external trim at the base of the door windows seemed to be crazing....so perhaps this product will bring it back and put some protection over the surface....better late than never I guess..   anyone else observed the same?   Treated it ?

I see that the "Magic Sponge" is not a 303 product, so what is their source ?

I think I would rather be carrying these 303 products than the lump of steel and wood that we did in school, cadets !! :snigger:
Cheers....

I use the most labour saving method yet invented - it's called WIFE and gets the interior and all windows sparkling clean and fresh.

Not to be used on the exterior though - WIFE can cause swirls.

I'll do that, Gonz......just don't hold your breath waiting...

Yeah, the soft plastics are probably one of my biggest issues with the i30......they scratch so easily!  :fum:

That's the one, Tony.....
I've always used Armor All but some swear by this stuff so I might give it a go.

They are pretty much one good use then throw away but to get marks of painted surfaces, bugs off the front of your car etc.. they are brilliant. They do clean up the marks on vinyl and stuff but wont mask scratches  :undecided:

But they are very effective just using water without any harsh chemicals .. :goodjob:

Edit: They are called "Multi-use Cleaning Eraser" ...

My other half uses WIFE also. Works amazingly well for the house too.

Doesn't do the gardening though  :whistler: Need that product called HUSBAND for that one. HUSBAND also takes out the garbage. If only HUSBAND would do the cooking every night it'd be perfect..........
