This morning was the coldest February in 26 years her in DK.
We are used to cold weather, but not THAT cold. Last winter and this winter have been colder than normal.

It actually has been a nice winter so far. It was very nice temperatures - over 0 - until 10 days ago. So I really don't have any reason to complaint about the weather.

Well it is sunny and -21*C outside.
Here are some bad news:
Since the beginning of month almost the half of Kolpino (it is said to be about 12000 citizens) has been sort of either hot water, central heating or electricity or all together at the same time.
So the central heating and hot water has been shut off in my home twice already: a few days back for a short time and todays morning, so that woke me up. For the time being we have got radiators at home getting warmer gradually along with hot water, but the problems remains for others.
The local news media: TV, Internet has highlighted out disaster today, so they kept silence for almost a week!

Same here, except it's not 6^oC and not dry - lots of snow & mush hanging around and it's hovering on 2^oC

What a pick up last night.

Got to the airport 12:40 am and loaded car with son and girlfriend plus a couple of bags.

But as soon as I got on the M56 after leaving the airport I hit driving sleet.
It was really hitting the car with force as there was also a high wind blowing across the M/Way.
At one point the wipers just seem to give up..............

Had this for about 5 miles and was down to 20 mph at one stage, I was just thankful that the M/Way was clear of cars as having the hardshoulder to the left and 2 empty lanes to the right made driving alot safer than say on a narrow/normal road.

I will say that the ESP was brill no wheel spin or loss of traction and the car felt surefooted even in I would say 2 inches of wet sleet lying on the road.

Must say though that there are a few mindless drivers out there.
OK it was nearly 1 am and no other vehicles but at one point I only felt safe doing 20 mph as visibility was practically nil.
At this point a few cars sped past doing I would say 70 mph plus and given that there was about 2 inches of wet slippy sleet on the road either they don't realise what the condition were or they have such disregard for not only their own safety but the odd one or two others that were out.

I am sure it was perfectly safe, they probably had more efficient heaters and louder stereos than you. If you looked closely you would probably spot the anti-crash devices they were holding to talk to their boss with.

Was like a Spring evening here last night, warm enough for no coat & the birds were singing lol! 10 - 11 degrees, but when the wind blows its chilly... Not bad for February tho!
