Surely a diesel i30 would have been a more effective investment Tom ?
What sort of MPG are you getting?

Should even out after a couple years driving im sure with the saving you made from not buying a new Diesel. Nice bargain :)

 Sye didn't word that very well did he.. What he meant was " at the price you paid for your petrol it was a big saving over a new Diesel, and the saving would cover a couple of years difference in fuel costs... :D

..or something along those lines  :goodjob:

i worked out my total fuel bill on the total miles and came back with 15.28p per mile fuel cost, which i personally dont think is bad at all.  i reckon the ecu could be remapped to do better but not by much, and with the outlay of the fitting of the chip at £300 ish is it worth it?  plus my warranty goes out the window if "they" find out.

Re-maps dont do much help for a petrol engine, compared to that of a diesel.. A map on the ECU is better than the chip, as its 'invisible' Remap on a petrol removes the limiter, and unless a turbo etc is fitted not worth it.
In RE: warranty, they can only tell if they compare maps of two cars the same engine side by side. (=

Just know from being into the tuning side if things, rather save you £300 of hard earned cash, than you give it some guy who isnt going to advise you.

Also keep away from induction kits if your trying to save fuel (= usual fuel saving steps, correct tyre inflation, plan journey, dont over rev , change gear between 2.5-3k revs, etc etc (=

15.28p per mile fuel cost,

Buses/taxis are alot dearer but you don't have the convience.

eg a bus trip for 1 mile would set you back £3.00  Taxi circa £5.00
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

trains i sometimes use if the place i need to visit has no immediate parking or the combined fuel and parking is more than the train ticket, but the rest can do one!

Not too sure about them myself, fired NGK's into the mx-5 when i first got it,  think the pair of those brands are good quality, so cant guarantee, our local dealer uses the NGK's and also the OEM set, suppose it depends on who wants what, or what car they go into

i know we're a lot further in car tech than ever but do the main OE parts do a good enough job from spark plug perspectives and if i can get a better burn with the same amount of fuel going in it may well increase my mpg, not by much but ebery saving helps

Are you wondering weather better quality spark plugs work to an optimum level with the OEM set up from manufacturers? Good question.. hmm
Id also recommend staying away from supermarket fuels, and use the likes of BP or even better the BP Ultimate etc

i tend to go with shell or bp, mainly cos they are near work and home. i wonder if "they" would cause havok if when getting the warranty 10,000 mile service done i ask them to put none issue plugs in? double hmmm

Really not sure, i wouldn't like to think so, depends how well you get on with your service manager, a cranky one could say it invalidates warranty putting non oem sparks in

If they are Hyundai supplied the don't, hence wheels in the accessory brochure  :goodjob:
Reason of correct offset, bore, weights etc etc etc I think
