Do you like sharks?
Remind me never ever go to swim in an open ocean when I'm in Australia

You've probably got more chance of dying at the hands of one of your crazy car drivers than you have from one of our sharks, Meehalych...  :D

From the text....

Swimmers and surfers are almost certainly accidental victims but while attacks off Australia are uncommon - figures of 20 in 2009 and 14 in 2010 were higher than normal - deaths are rare. On average there's one fatality each year, yet news of close encounters invariably prompts Australians to wonder what is lurking out to sea.

Meehalch, do you have bears in Russia? If so, how often do they kill someone?

A bear can be spotted long before close encounter (there are some tricks to fool him such as to pretend to be dead, for example), whereas it is hard to see a shark coming.
I have been many times in a forest in Saint-Petersburg/ Leningradskaya oblast, Pskovskaya oblast and Tikhvinskaya oblast and have never seen any tracks of bears, nor I heard of any news that somebody met a bear in those regions, but wolfs.

Anyway in the very beginning that woman pretended dead, so the bear receded, once she set on her knees the bear came back and was there before she lied on her back motionlessly and an object flew to his head.

As Surferdude pointed out, shark attacks are accidental, they think that we are something else (seal, turtle, tuna) and try to take a bite.

I've seen sharks while flying and scuba diving.  I've even seen a Bronze Whaler in a feeding frenzy in Jervis Bay (lucky I was in the helicopter).  Thankfully, I have never seen one while surfing.  Ignorance is bliss after all.

Yes Misha. Shark meat is very tasty. It is sold in great quantities in Australia as "flake", which is the basic fish used in "fish & chips" mainly in the southern states of Australia.

Fortunately we eat more of them than they eat of us
