  • Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.
My baby is having her 45000km spruce up on Friday. I always supply my own parts and fluids.

I buy my genuine Hyundai filters from a bloke in Sydney whom I got to know when I brought my CW spoiler some time back.

Darren can supply AND deliver an i30 diesel oil filter for $25 compared to local dealer pricing on between $37 and $40.

I also priced the pollen filter from Darren. He charges $75 while local dealers are between $85 and $87.

BTW, the service is being done by Ultra Tune for $110.

Ryco Z707 $34.60.

I like a saving too  :happydance:

Sydney filters have one for $25 but I like a known brand.

Ask for KIA parts, mostly they reference same part numbers anyway so if you know the part number of a filter than just go to KIA parts department. Example i30 CrD fuel filter retails for around $160 from Hyundai. From KIA price is mysteriously $87 and it is exactly the same unit even the box lists both manufacturers!

Yes I have, but the price difference was only about $30 or $40 when I did that (still a good saving)  :goodjob:

You can get a genuine diesel filter from ebay UK for about $50

But after further research I am using the SFS filters on the I30. Much cheaper.

Hyspares sells genuine filters (I got my filter for the i30 diesel for $20) And i think around $8 for postage!
I do the intermediate services myself - I  grab a good quality synthetic oil for around $50.....
Take me around 30min....Very simple with the right tools. Whole job cost me less than $90 and I know
It has been done properly!

Been back a week from Tassie... and getting the "Royal Tour....Dazz style....  Thanks mate.. :goodjob2: :goodjob:
When I got my filters from Sydney Filters, they asked if I need the cabin or air inlet filters ( a large and a small)... @ $32.
I was not really aware that there was one, hidden behind the glove box.. So I passed and thought I would check it out first..

Well here are the results.... a) filters as removed, b) accumulated crap from tapping them out, c) the colour of the reverse ( cabin) side.     :scared: :faint:

a)

b)

c)

Having seen all this I figure that the filter has neve been changed... so  it is something to be checked !!!  Bit tricky to remove the 2 plugs from within the glovebox, but after that is is straight forward....

 Trust this is of assistance.

 Cheers

Hi! All

Didn't really know where to put this one,but over the past few weeks there has been a lot of dissatisfaction over what dealers have been charging service wise and for filters and which filters are best to use,I through the service manager a curve ball yesterday on Cyril's 60,000 K service,he didn't know how to bill it,as I took all my own filters and oil, which it has been stated before, you are within your right to do,as long as they meet Hyundai so called high standards, now if Ryco does not fit that bill(one of the biggest filter manufacturers worldwide)I don't know which filter company does.

Anyhow I digress, the bill has come in,even after buying my chosen filters and oil, from the quoted normal service price for this interval,$586 at this particular dealership,I saved $180(thats $185.77 US,122.53 GBP,140.83 Eur) quite a considerable savings if you ask me.

Pollen filters where mentioned,Hyundai vary from $80-$120, online $27, cov parts if you are able to get trade $22 with GST,now here is the kicker,I had a lengthy discussion with Wade and Adam at Northam yesterday about one of my previous bills,I was charged $130 dollars for a filter, one investigation it was their so called original Hyundai fuel filter,a Rvco 707 is only $29, so who the hell is making all the money then, according to Wade and Adam it's not them their mark up on parts is not that much(So they say)Oh and Ryco filters and Penrite oils are acceptable substitutes according to Hyundai and I should think so, two of the bigger oil and filter makers in the world.

I was asked by Wade and Adam, why I prefered Penrite oil, simple answer was I have been using Penrite for years in my other vehicles, plus I have found since using it in Bruce and Cyril, they both seem to be running smoother and a damned site quieter, plus I can no prove it conclusively but I'm sure I am getting better economy, but the biggest plus it is far far cheaper then what they are supplying either shell or castrol, which is another shocker for me,full Syn shell or Castrol can be brought at most speed shop for less than 60 per five litres, hyundais price surprise surprise is $88 for the same amount, also no guarantee from them which you will have put in your car,as they take delivery of what ever is either the cheapest at the time or what is available at the time they order their oils,so that says to me they don't prticularly care what oil they put in your car as long as it meets Hyundais, specs
