I hope this hasn't been posted before but I thought it was of interest given that the i30 took out the honours in the small car class with the 2.0 litre petrol auto.

The Toyota Prius was overall the most costly to run in the class at $223.29 per week.

Interesting.....

Interesting.....

Depreciation is the killer with Hybrids .. particularly if you pay list price (I didn't) and also finance costs are taken into account .. I don't usually use finance but at less than 2% it was hard to refuse.. my running costs (for the Camry Hybrid) would be way less than that  :sweating:

15000k per year. Who drives that little distance...

Who pays dealer retail....

Who pays dealer servicing....

but apart from that....Good survey.

Interesting how many of the makes in each category were Autos !!!

One usually would think that the manual was more economical, given that the survey was only taking into account the first 5yr period of ownership.
One would not expect to be changing clutches etc at 15k per year....

I'd like to see their reasoning / calculations to justify that  :disapp:

Yours is just getting run in, Dave.... :D

You're absolutely right.
I can't say in all honesty that the car feels old or weraing out in a ny area, which is in itself a tribute to Hyundai.
It runs and drives superbly and if that is the case for a car that's done, now, 121,000 kms I think it augurs well for the future.  :happydance:

If my old Holden Barina/Suzuki Swift can do 420,000 clicks (up until I sold it) I reckon 120,000k's is nothin'....... :D

True.
My daughter recently sold her (my old) AU Falcon dedicated LPG with @ 450,000 + kms on the clock and still going strong. Hadn't even had the head off.
All the peripherals had been replaced - auto trans, LPG convertor, power steering, etc, but the good old "green" engine still purred like a kitten.
Contrary to popular misconception, they were a damn good model and that car was 100% better than the one I replaced it with (a BA LPG) when I passed it on to my daughter.
It all comes down to regular and proper servicing, I reckon.

True,

The Wife's BA Falcon has 113,000 on the clock, has been better than my EL which had the head off twice by 120k touch wood, the old man's AU is going strong, with minimal work done by him.

My June 10 CW has 50k on the clock, I have have been using the wife's car whenever I can until the new FBT year, otherwise it would be at least 60k.
