The Olympic torch passed through Blackpool earlier and got put out by the gales and torrential rain.

Oh well, Olympics cancelled, what a pity, never mind.  :snigger:

Yep, that was me rowing home....   bloomin summer

Careful what you wish for ... this from the Beeb -

"Torrential rain has caused flooding across large areas of northern England, with some people being forced to leave their homes.

Some homes in the Lancashire towns of Croston and Darwen were evacuated after nearby rivers burst their banks.

Up to 500 properties flooded overnight in north-west England, the EA said.

A month's worth of rain has fallen in some parts of the country in the past 24 hours."

It was pretty stormy up here yesterday. I work in the building to the immediate left of this photo. The light show was quite spectacular  :)

Its a theater known locally as the Armadillo but I think you are right about where the inspiration for that design came from. They are currently constructing a new concert venue next to it. The big crane is a monument to the Glasgow shipyards.

Heaviest frost for some time here in Devonport .. These photos were taken from our Balcony about half an hour ago when the temperature way 0.7 C (looks like we are going to have a lovely day though (despite a predicted top of only 12 C)

At 10am it is a glorious sunny day with no wind (but still only 3.4C in the shade according to our weatherstation) Lucky i'm on afternoon shift...

ah, Daz, you have got a draw well at your possession. do you drink that water or use it for watering only (not sure if it's correct verb in this case)?

It's probably a wishing well, the kind you throw money into. Then he sneaks in later and empties the loot.

Yep, well rugged up and slippers  :D

Misha,

It is apparently drinkable  but with 90,000 litres in our tanks and regular rain we haven't had to use it at all..

The people we bought the block off used to draw most of their water from it (They live above us on the hill)

It was only a 14 foot deep "Filtered" hole in the ground when we bought the block we got the brickwork done by a man who is now a woman  and I built the top part  :happydance:

No money in it unfortunately  :undecided:

I got a bricklayer called Daryl (of all names..) who I had know for ages (casually) to help me brick it up.. He huffed and puffed and made a real meal of the job .. I thought he had a problem but not quite what I expected.. Maybe it was our well job that broke the camels back.. (He would be around 60 y/o)

anyway... next think he was living as a woman called Julie ... Oh well  :snigger:

By building the top part I meant the wooden bits....
