Good idea when there isn't any rain, you could have painted it 3 times over  :whistler: Hope you get some rain soon.
Me too. But we have pretty wide eaves and I painted at least half of two sides of the house in rain.

- I must have dropped my brand new i-phone as I got out of the car this morning in a shopping centre car park.   :(

+ Someone must have found it it  :D

- That someone must have kept it  :(

- That someone must have got sick of me calling the phone because they switched it off

+ There was a cctv camera where it happened  :D

- Shopping Centre security wouldn't check the footage without a Police report number  :(

+ I went and reported it at the police station and got a report number  :D

- I took it back to security and they still haven't checked the footage  :(

+ I went into Vodafone and had the old sim cancelled   :D

+ I got a new sim  :D

- I'm now using an old phone with a battery that doesn't last long  :(

- I lost all my contacts  :(

+ The sun is still shining  :D

Bad luck Dave.  :fum:

Many years ago when we first went  to Sydney my wife's wallet fell out of her handbag as she got out of the car in a large shopping centre car park. She didn't need it in the centre  abd we were driving home when we noticed a small note under the passenger wiper. It said they had found her wallet beside our car and taken it to the police station over the road.
We retrieved it with a minimum of fuss.
Which was a nice introduction to the largest city in Australia.
Sometimes things go right for you.

Thanks.
I will call the shopping centre management tomorrow morning and I will ask them what they found on the cctv footage when they viewed it.
I already know the answer - they won't have viewed it.
Then I will start getting a little bit annoyed.

Reminds me of way back in my sailing days....

I was out sailing with my brother and when we got back in he realised he'd lost his wallet overboard....
We called around to the local cop shop just to report it and, bugger me dead it had already been handed in...apparently someone had spotted it floating in the middle of the inlet..... :faint:

I remember someone I used to work with had one of those black, long Maglite torches and he took it fishing with him one night and dropped it into the ocean off the groin.
He could see the light still shining on the seabed but couldn't get to it.
About three years later someone found it on the beach and as it was engraved with his police number, handed it in. It was completely silver having lost all of its black coating in the salt water.
He pulled it apart, cleaned it and changed the globe, fitted new batteries and it worked perfectly.
Great ad for Maglite.  :goodjob2:

I was going to say something along the lines of if those torches can survive all the daily head banging they do, a stint underwater wouldn't be a big deal.

But I thought that might be in poor taste.

So I won't. :whistler:

Ok, story time.  :D
I knew someone, once, back in the dreamtime, who used to work in law enforcement and had one of those big, black Maglite torches.
I remember him picking up a baddie one day (this was in the CIB) and he inroduced this particular baddie before interviewing him, to his torch.
He said, "This is Milo."
The guy looked a bit suss and wondered why he was being introduced in such a nice way to a torch.
Then he was told, "It's marvellous what a difference Milo makes."
He decided to admit the error of his ways and was subsequently charged with several burglary offences.

Note:  For our overseas members, Milo is a chocolate malt drink that was supposed to do wondrous things for you and their advertising slogan was, "It's marvellous what a difference Milo makes."

It's rumoured that Aussie police use their 6 cell Maglite torches the way a Bobby would use his truncheon.
Dave (sorry, "someone in law enforcement" )was suggesting if the perp didn't cop a plea he'd cop a mag lite in the head and various other body parts.

No need to apologize to me.  :)

P.S. I do wonder how English Bobby's would use their truncheons though....? :undecided: Hopefully only the line of duty.  :whistler:

Hugh + Today, I found a brand new Iphone just laying there in a car park

Hugh - Damned thing would stop ringing

Big + I was able to turn it off

 sorry couldn't resist, I know not nice, hope you get it back, but knowing the price of these things, some little Yob has either changed the sim or sold it to buy drugs.

Gone are the days of honesty for many many people, if I find things I still hand them in, but not many do now a days, I know what it is like to loose things, worse thing is the last few things I have lost, a Bluetooth ear set for hands free use in the truck, then a blue ant Bluetooth visor unit for handsfree operation in the truck, both where taken out of my truck when I went in for lunch in the companies yard I work for, we had a lot of casuals working for us at the time both these items went missing

It was a fork in the road for the finder.

+ Return or hand in the phone and sleep well at night.  :goodjob2:

or

- Opportunistically, sell it for drugs etc, or try to use it with a new sim, and still sleep well at night.  :fum:

I'd like to say the story had a happy ending and that the shopping centre security staff went out of their way to view the cctv footage for me, identified the offender, observed his car registration number, handed the info over to the police who went around and got my phone back and charged the pond dwellers.

But I can't. After three phone calls over the past three days to ask them to view the footage I gave up.  :fum:
They gave me three firm promises to call me back.
I'm still waiting............. :foottap:
They must be too busy watching re-runs of the Simpsons or something.
