Not sure were that is rustynutz, the road I'm thinking of is about an hour north of Townsville, off to the left, hlf to three quarters the way up is what we used to call Crystal Brook a swimming hole at the base of some falls.
if you went up the top there used to be a tourist tea rooms, used to go up there all the time when I was posted up there years ago, we used to take Grunts up there all the time to to do training excercises, but for the lie of me I can't think of the name of the settlement up there,bu8t when we used to go upthere in the old army trucks to get two trucks past each other, you would have to scrape the passenger side of one up against the cliff face upwards, the other used to have to hang one of the bogie drive tyres over the cliff the other side and it tqwisted and turned like the one Dazz posted but you were luck to have more than 100 metres visibility, as it was heavy rain forest when I used to go up there.

Yep, that's one and the same, Rick.... :goodjob:
That "settlement" is Paluma.
I took some photos around the area on my recent road trip. I also took some video of the road which I really must get around to posting up.  :-[

Rustynutz

After thinking about for some time, the name did start to ring a bell,I can't seem to get the photo's to load, would be nice to see how it's changed, bet you it's still no the possible death sentence it could have been all those years ago.

Back then in my wilder days we had time trails up and down that road or just simply try and scare the C@#p out of each other, top road for a bike as well.

RN the swimming holes look the same, but looks like they've upgraded the width of the road, added some decent bitumen Oh! and added some white posts to hit before you go over the edge, sounds like the bitumen still finishes just after the settlement.

I'd say so....the road is still pretty narrow though, enough to make you slow in a hurry when someone comes the other way.  :whistler:
I'm in the process of uploading a video I did of the road up until the swimming hole and I'll post it in my road trip thread when I'm finished.....

Why don't you do what Shambles does, forum at work  :whistler:

Be careful in Japan, there's a lot of groping on the trains, apparently.  :whistler:
