There are?!?! BRB, off too google............

Travelling around Perth I have seen three different bin cleaning vehicles travelling around, not sure what they charge, but after scrubbing out ours one day,I would pay for someone to do mine if they came out this far.

 Yes, they're pretty bad. What's worse is when I'm home during the day and the garbage truck leaves every bin in the street with it's lid open and no one else is home until 5pm to get rid of them  :faint:

Thankfully I hosed it all down and the smell seems to have eased somewhat today.

I thought those bin cleaning mobs were for industrial sized bins (dumpsters).

Strange to have so much trouble with an item like this. This is what we do.

All trash in plastic bin bags. No wet stuff or meats on the bin itself.

Empty bin, wash with hot water & plenty of JASOL disinfectant (Biodegradable). Let soak for 1 hour, lid closed to free up sticky stuff on the bottom.

Use a stiff broom and sweep sides with liquid to clean sides.

When clean, pour liquid down sewer drain, use grate to retain paper etc.

Rinse with clean water & let dry, pick a warm sunny day.

Done regularly, it doesn't get too bad.

You just need some of that nice bin deodorant now.  :D

Femfresh might work

Our solution is to leave the bins next to our entry gates almost 100 mtrs from the house.

They don't usually smell except when there is a dead snake in there  :whistler: or this week when I put a dead baby rabbit in there early in the week (that the cat bought home) by Rubbish day (Friday) it was fairly ripe  :sicky:

+ Cyril is booked in for his second new windscreen
- organised a claim number(which took forever)now have to cancel it
+ windscreens obreins did a very good deal for me as we only had the last one replaced nine weeks ago, plus giving us some free repair vouchers and we will be put on the fleet discount list.

Mind you still doesn't stop me being upset about it,no matter how careful I am going through road works,I can not control the other morons on the road.

Rick, they use the cold laying method down here even on the highways these days. :fum:

Not only does it leave a course noisy surface but also as you say they leave the loose stuff ying around for a week or two.

I try to keep to the 40 or 60 speed limits but d'heads either try to pass you or come zooming from the other direction  :disapp: (always makes me real nervous)  :sweating:

Yes I'm the same, but like you say can't control others actions, but I have found the windscreens in the I30's seem tobe extremely suseptable to  cracking, our commodore has had worse stone hits on the edge of the screen and not cracked, plus hits in the centre of the screen and not cracked or starred.

You seem to just have to tap the screen on the I30's and bingo, new screen or star repair is needed.

While back now but think I had a new screen in my CRDi (in only 28 months) Trish has only done 17 or 18K in just over 2 years (so far so good)  :Knock:

Maybe our cars are more suseptable,as I am on the road more than average,in both Bruce and Cyril we have clocked up just over 120,000K's in 14-16 months, mostly country driving to boot

Oh dear these bin comments have me in stitches.

Dave, yes, it's quite likely I am used to it. Thankfully so are the rest of the family so I'm no longer in trouble  :happydance:

Phil, all our trash does go into bags but the green waste and grass clippings etc go straight in the bin. Those one's smell far worse than the regular bin ever does! Doesn't matter what we do, leave it open, it's actually broken so has ventilation holes in the sides, nothing works. I guess we could only mow once a fortnight but the grass would be kind of difficult if left that long.

Dazzler, if I could leave it that far from the house I would, belive me!!

Rick, good luck for Cyril tomorrow!

I know the smell you mean Panda (It happens here if we leave some garden refuse in a wheelbarrow for too long.) It turns into Sileage  :fum: :sicky:

Get yourself a compost bin, there are many types, I've got a cheapie which is a bin without a bottom, chuck in the grass etc, close the lid and the contact between the ground and the greens encourages natural breakdown WITH No SMELL at all. I might have to send a photo.

When you open it, it just smells like earthy soil, not offensive at all. Makes a great addition to potting mix when composted too. 1 rule though, no meat products, they will cause a smell.

Got a few of them, work well with everything except dog turds,no matter how you try to compost dog turds, they never break down,so I have two which I can't do anything with other than try to dispose of it somehow

Do you get your wheelie bin cleaned?

At the end of that day, wheelie bins belong to the council so why pay to clean it? Do we get reduction on council tax bill for paying for this vital service out of our pockets? No!! Some people must have money to burn.

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=808623

Here is a company that do the bins near here.
May be they are looking for an overseas franchise:

Price options are shown depending on which bin(s) you wished cleaned.

Compost is a good idea. We had one back at our old house but we rent here and there's no way they'd let us create one :(

I'll just have to be more careful about where I dump the spoils  in the future :P
