  • Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.
Yes funny how you get attached to things,I had an old Rover Scott/Bonner for 24 odd years,I was very reluctant to get a new mower, but it was just getting to hard to get parts for the ol girl, nothing is built to last these days

Crikey, Rick, your mower lasted longer than my first marriage!! (I had servicing issues as well)

Our Old Faithful Victa Craftsman got too hard to start today and the pull cord gave way. We're going to miss our dear friend after 22 years of great service. :blubber:

Here's a web picture that matches ours, although ours isn't anywhere near as clean. We tried getting it serviced 2 years ago and the techs refused. It's lasted this long. :blubber:

It's a new idea to me, because I'm in exactly the same position, an old recoil start mower.

I don't see where I stated it was a new idea, just giving Gonz an alternative.

I like to use a hand mower to tidy up the bits of our block that are hard to get to with the ride on or brushcutter... We had a pretty good Victa 2 stroke until I lent it out a few times  :disapp: Now it is fairly knocked around and needs a carbie kit I think  :undecided: (so probably not worth fixing)

I much prefer 2 strokes but the only way i will get a cheap one now is 2nd hand (all new cheapies seem to be 4 stroke now)  :blubber:

I like to use a hand mower

An inveterate boaster complained that it took him all day to cut his lawn  - everybody had previously listened to boasts about his size of lawn, but a Newbie to the group quipped,
"Yeah, we had an old push mower like that".

The boaster was furious :happydance:

Better get it fix or you may find your hands stuck to the wheel when weather gets colder

Was that an optional extra?
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

+/-  steering wheel heating system works actually, but an indication of its work is dead :undecided: : neither led indicator on switch nor indication on an instrument board comes on.

With the Adelaide Show, conference presentation and then course in Canberra, I've been neglecting weight training until this week. Thank God for muscle memory! The dumbellls felt a bit light so I swapped out a few plates and now I'm officially bench pressing above my AFG best. Woohoo! :happydance:

After six months of shoulder shrugging by council types we had enough and called the 1800 emergency gas leak line yesterday. A plumber was out within two hours to pinpoint the area outside our garden with the highest concentration. This morning a backhoe and four workmen arrived, drilled several tiny holes along the gas route, located the dig point and went down a full 2m. The cast iron pipe was visibly cracked and a rubber lined stainless steel collar was bolted over the crack. They filled in the area (where the council had built a paved path) with dolomite and left the pavers in a neat stack by the stobie pole.

I guess our lawn and olive trees may stand a chance this summer. :happydance:

Handy.
Keep the bacon butty warm while you are driving to work.

Whack the bacon butty in the i30 glove box and put the a/c on hot, the bacon will keep on cooking and become nuked like the yanks prefer their bacon.  Those who have travelled on the American cruise ships or been to the 'Land of Tipping' will know what I mean. ;)

Yep. The first time I was in the US, we started out in the south (Carolina) and I figured the breakfast cook had had a bad night, given the way the bacon was the first morning.
But that cook followed us all around the US - to Akron, Chicago and LA.
Bastard has followed me every time since - including to Canada. :p

I was put in charge of the shopping today. Aside from 20 chicken drumsticks, 12 continental sausages, 8 pork spare ribs and 4 rump steaks, I ordered a kg of short cut bacon.

The girl asks 'Is it OK if it's slightly over?'. It was 1.6kg!

Lot's'a'bacon at the Gonz house this weekend! :happydance:

I must admit to liking crispy bacon (not burnt) as well.

Don't like it soft and soggy.

It tastes obscene when it's like that.  :disapp:
