As Rusty said, there's a massive typhoon heading your way. It has devastated the Phillipines with possibly 10,000 deaths.
But the lats reports I saw said it was heading for the central coast of Vietnam, so you may be OK. I have a friend who lives in Hanoi. He was in the middle of planning a month's surfing on the central coast.

Thanks guys I have heard about typhoon, but it is forcast to hit a central part of Vietnam and head north towards China afterwards, so I seem safe here. Our airplane entered a turbulance zone while flying near Hue town, so it might have been the storm, I reckon.
